I had 10.0.6 before and like i already wrote before, this issue never happened before, first time, still not confortable to let it go online if i'm not sure.

 

i remember perfectly that on 10.0.6 it never asked for that, and i added two block rules to firewall for ableton and max right after authorization and it works without problems, if i add two block rules now, it open and closes right after loading main window. Same thing if i don't add no rule, since it asks for it.

I know that you had it installed before. My point was if you reinstalled that if the problem has began on that too.

By the way I checked my firewall and I have Ableton.exe on public. The indexer is not there at all.
What you also can try is just to remove all blocks for Ableton, restart and see what happens...even if you are not comfortable with it.

 

Already tried without blocks, asks everytime, (main app and indexer exe files) if i block it shuts down, i let it go online only if i have connection closed, i just don't understand what's happening, i don't want to go back again, i prefer to wait to another version on sister site instead, i'll let you know if i figure out some solution. Thanks again.

 

Hi Epidemico. I've just installed the cracked version and blocked with firewall.
Live 10.1 starts up as it should regardless if it's the legit/cracked version, Push2 connected or not connected.

Same goes for me, no block for indexer.
What should the local db indexer use an internetconnection for?

Two thoughts:
- Did you try with the legit version.
- where did you obtain your cracked version from? Virus?

This is not, how Live normally works. It does not shut down if I disable it in the firewall. At least suspicious (virus, Bitcoin miner?)

Not at all, as i already wrote, a couple of friends run it with no issues, same cracked version (from a trusted source), nothing blocked by default, but as soon the main window pops up (not the splash screen) it asks to go online, if i block it, it shuts down, doesn't matter, i really don't know what to think anymore.

 

A first step to nail it down would be to download the legit version and check if it behaves the same.

 

What you can try to do is open regedit, in the find section search; Ableton
You probably have to mark one Hkey section at the time and search; Ableton on all of them.
Then try to delete all Ableton program related. You should probably do a clean uninstall before doing this
After deleting all in regedit restart pc and reinstall

I just did a super clean uninstall, as always regedit too, restarted pc, cleaned again before new install, i installed it a ton of time without this issue, don't bother, i will wait for another version and see if it will behave as this version, thanks.

 

If you were a beta tester you know that in 10.1b21 they told us that they had fixed a bug that caused certain VST-3 plug-in devices to crash. It was still crashing in 10.1b22 and for some users on today's release.

 

simple solution this should also teach u how to use ur firewall better. i use comodo too. Many of these DAWs now use a seperate process to scan plugins. I believe this is so that if the plugin scan process crashes it doesnt crash the whole DAW. To do this its a process that uses tcp or udp protocol and ur loopback IP address. If you dont know what that is i suggest u google it cuz it helps to know. Basically your loopback address is 127.0.0.1 which means your computer. It doesnt ever go to internet. When u block all address on your filrewall you block this as well If this is happening and im quite sure it is that means Ableton has changed the way they scan plugins and also u need to add an exception to your firewall rules to allow 127.0.0.1 in comodo its callled the network zone. A good way to check is to go into comodo and look at the network intrusions list. it will show u all the addresses that attempted a connection. there u will find the culprit which if i am right will show ableton and the process thats trying to communicate to 127.0.0.1. If this is the case again just allow this in ur comodo firewall rules. Do a custom rule. U can google how to allow this so i dont have to type it out. Hope this helps.

I have no plugin scanning at all since i still have to point the right plugin folder, but i'm guessing i simply have to let go both processes online, since my friend don't have any issue at all and i never encounter this issue before with comodo.

 

@Epidemico, I had that exact same problem with Izotope RX. What I eventually did was allow the app and all its subsidiaries to access only the "Loopback Network Zone", which made it working again. So they're still blocked from the internet, but allowed to use the loopback path to communicate between themselves or whatever they use it for.

 

@Epidemico, Again you are using comodo wrong. you are blocking everything. Back in the days that was good until developers started using the seperate process trick for plugins and scanning. Bitwig, Studio One, repear, and who knows who else uses it now maybe even new 10.1 ableton. Nowadays u cant just make a blanket block to stop all connections you have to allow loopback. So wat you need to do is go into comodo and erase the block rulesthat u made but before you do this you should go into your network intrusions list. This will tell you the exact program thats trying to connect to wat ip address. The programs that are trying to connect to 127.0.0.1 are safe to allow. You need to make an allow rule in comodo for this. In summary what you are doing is allowing programs to communticate to 127.0.0.1 which is what comodo calls the Network Zone, this address does not go out to the net but is the address of your own computer. And you block everything else aka forward facing internet connections. ALLOW LOOPBACK ---BLOCK everything else.

 

Exactly, same thing here with RX7, in the end i let it go "online" and it works, i've just done the same with Ableton, so, problem solved, thanks guys.

this guys not understanding allowing everything to go online is not the solution. blocking everything except loopback is...

 

NO issues at the moment (mac user).

 

Win 10, auth won't work ("invalid on this comp"). Any ideas, guys?
