They meanwhile support multicore processing ?

the stretch in Sample One sounds actually quite useful

I hate how new libraries won't work on the older versions, I mean for God's sake I have been a try before buy user for nearly 10 years now, I'm going to actually buy one soon I promise

  3. Fairy Nuff. I don't use Kontakt much myself despite having a huge collection of tom foolery for it, apart from the Alicia Key's Piano. It's become something that's had so much frippery shoe horned into it, that I've noticed sample packages for Kontakt passing themselves off as synths, when they're really not.

The one fire alarm I hear ringing around Kontakt is the sudden and recent tampering with the copy protection. Always a symptom of a package past it's best-by date but whose owners don't understand the market sufficiently to smell the competion, so it must be freeloaders, QED. There's a sample player in Studio One which I seem to recall loads Kotakt libraries prior to K 4.3. Perhaps it's time to move on. Perhaps it's time to lock down on what's there.

True! There was a blind test, that provided a comparison of 2 sound cards $25 and $1000
in front of 500 listeners (audio engineers were there too)...

    so what?

Result: 50:50...i.e. 50% couldn't determine, when the expensive gear sounded, and when the cheap one.. so, audio engineers (real ones!) got down!
PS. Once I found the link to youtube with that test, I post it here

True, but who believes this desinformation of the mutation of a sampleplayer into as synth?
At least enough people to pay the bills for the advertising, but I'm afraid much more.

I don't want to go off-topic here but as I said, the consumer is NOT aware of those subtleties. Do people in a club dance to your track because you are using a real Roland 808? Do people that attend a concert pay $200 for a ticket because the artists are using real synths instead of VST's? Moreover, the biggest age group when it comes to music consumers (13-34) was not even alive during the golden period of the magnetic era. The majority don't even know what differentiates analog gear from its digital counterpart. Indeed, they don't care. The only ones who seem to care is US and those a-holes from Gearsluts (no pun intended) and similar sites. That is the reason why some of US spend more time hoarding VSTs, and discussing analog against digital, than actually producing music. I have fallen a victim to that many a time. Some even think that if Soothe, the new Nexus, etc are ever cracked, their songs are guaranteed to become number one hits and they wait, and wait, and wait... for a day that may never come.

Have you tried changing the algorhythms, there are quite a few in Halion/Cubase....?

Also one more thing to keep in mind is that an awful lot of people listen to music on cheap crappy in ear headphones. Good luck finding out the difference between a VST and a real synth on one of those :bleh:

Obviously, brother. There are some nice people there. There are nice people everywhere but I was not referring to them. I was referring to the a-holes that shit matching pairs of Engraved Base, Western Electric 300Bs during bowl movement.

The King is naked! But what do we commoners know... holy molly, I'm having a déjà vu

One of the worse things in general but especially with those "keyboard warriors" at the forums: false elitism/pedantism/snobism, call it how you like.
That's one of the best things of this forum. You can't avoid it totally but it's really low.

I havent used kontakt in a long time but i know when i did use it i hated the interface, font, folder navigation and architecture, and pretty much everything that wasnt the shiny faceplate that NI and 3rd parties put on their instruments

It sure was fun to play with tho.

You can't seriously think of beating the Xontakt v6.1.5 I used in the inNKX video tutorial... :disco:

    Thanks for the reply.

I've owned Cubase since "Cubase SX" I think the DAW has phenomenal time stretching abilities. And yes, The algorithms are great. I have been paying for updates every year. Although the time stretching on the "Sampler Track" is absolutely horrible. If you just want to drop sample on the "sampler Track" and play with the a key or two above above or below the original pitch.. Then it is fine.

But if you play 7 keys up or down, then you will here all kinds of weird shit, regardless if the algorithm is in "Music" or Solo" mode.

This is the main reason I did not buy Halion 6 after I tried it. I make a lot of small sample libraries for my projects, including one-shot libraries made from one or two samples. So it is nice to have time stretching that sounds clean around 7 keys in each direction from the root.

    Cheers,

An engine doesn’t sound cold. Whoever said that is an idiot.... Kontakt is cool, just wish it had a better user interface, more than 16 channels of MIDI available in plugin mode and the built in effects are trash. Other than that it’s cool. UVI Workstation is better put together, but lacks far behind in editable features. Hopefully NI does a complete ground up rehaul of Kontakt once of these days. They have the cash...
