I don't think v4.5 would deserve the hoopla, but then again what do I know. Now if they were announcing 5.0 then you'd be talking. :)

Not even sure if this is related to software.
Could be a new hardware controller or something similar.
    We'll know soon enough.

if is a studio one release it should be 4.2, the 4.5 version not gonna be out until May next year, but from the looking of the email looks like is not about studio one, but studio one 4.2 should release soon cause already wait from last update in September

  6. It's too soon for a major version upgrade to SO4, and a minor upgrade would be free, so why the striptease marketing strategy? It has to be something relatively small and with a narrow profit margin, something which has to sell in large volume to make the marketing worth it.

The thing I'd most like in Studio One is automatic 32bit bridging. So that could be a feature add-on. Or a Console plugin offering SSL console emulation. A small object of desire, that many uisers have said they want.

I was about to jokingly say "maybe they'll finally add native 32 bit bridging and that's worth such a trailer" but you beat me to it

But seriously, they claim that this is something that people asked for. Anyone have a guess what is something that a lot of PreSonus users asked them to do? It could also be a hardware device I guess, since they didn't specify it's software.

"Presonus Studio One 4.5! Now protected with iLok! Now, registering has never been easier!"

    Imagine that.

  13. Well it'd be no great shakes for me. I'm a legit user and I already have iLok cloud installed for Softube and other stuff. But it's not very probable. The more I think about it, the more I see proper multicore support as the probable thing. It was a deal breaker with a great many prospective 3 users, was only partially resolved in end of run 3 / current 4, and so they'd be looking to make a great splash and a lot of marketing noise about having finally sorted it. So, my bet's on 4.2 with Multicore support.

i have never reached a point in a session to completely overload my hardware resources in terms of cpu / performance; in rare occasions that happened due to poorly coded/faulty plugin, one of the bloating example is the TC XII Phaser native vst, one of the best sounding phaser vst, bu when you just insert one it already consumes about 17%+ of CPU and is spiking when some audio is being processed.. I don't see what real benefit will be of using multicore, while Studio One lacks in other missing features badly and suffers of some critical and unfixed bugs. and that "chrods" feature is totally useless i have never been using it like AT ALL ...

most time you get cpu spikes or dropout much earlier than reaching 100% cpu :)

Especially if you want to use VSTi and not just audio playback

super hype ! studio one was the first daw i could really push the limit and still kept creativity first priority. id love to see more
    • cpu limit settings , maybe more external instances processing (Processes outside of studio one something like jbridger's auxhost.exe)
    • Being able to preset selective sets of plugins to active and de-active for mixing and tracking and mastering etc.
    • Way better piano rolls editor window function and upgrade the new drum pattern feature that came out not so long ago.
    • SampleOne to being able to do a clean 1/64 step notes. as of now for instance 1/64 hi hat rolls sounds like mush id have to use other Samplers like tal, battery, maschine, etc..
    • more intuitive usage feature to the "Transform to audio track "freeze track" "
but then again maybe we'll just probably get bug fixes and hardware compatibility

Maybe MPE support? I guess that could be a pretty big thing.

  19. Try running Mai Tai in highest quality with high polyphony. When I got on board with an early SO3 every single VSTi was being run on a single core thread. I had to rewire out to Reaper to get around it. Now, SO4 does distribute the plugs around the available cores but any single instance only runs on a single core. That's why MaiTai croaks out. That's why so many users at the Answers forum have asked for a fix.

  20. Or even Roli support, which would be much more interesting than Nektar support.
