I have a 2U slot free on my desktop rack units above one of my synths. I would quite like to put in a spectrum analyzer as I am quite a visual person, but no way am I forming out the silly money for a D1500 unit!

Anybody know of any cheap alternatives? Or even a DIY solution at all? A few on eBay etc, but size donuts appear to be good for 2U and would need to try and make a housing and mount myself for them.

Any ideas?

What I've been using is a mini PC with a monitor running Flux Pure Analyzer. The interface for the mini PC is one of those 40$ behringer RCA style ones and its coming from the tape output of my presonus monitor station.

You could scale this down to say a PC stick and a 5" rasberry pi display as long as the resolution of the display meets the minimum for windows (I think its 800x600). Maybe even dual 5" monitors.

You could aslo go down the rabbit hole a bit further and try Linux or replace the PC Stick with a rasberry Pi.

If all this is too much for you Behringer has the DEQ2496 for around $200 which is a 1U unit that has metering/ spectrum analyzer.
