Using CDXTract 4.5 on Win 64-bit here, that's working very nice. There's also akaiutil which is a CLI tool but works very nice, can do a lot of sample conversion stuff and can read the CDs too. I use it in some scripts to automate some the sample workflow a bit. You have to mount them in Alcohol 120% and then can use one of these tools!

akaiutil can be found here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/akaiutil/files/

It's quite easy. You extract it and start with akaiutil -p[number of physical drive found in the disk manager in windows]. Then you can use cd to choose a partition and cdi to choose a volume. If you want to upload stuff (like extracted WAV samples) you need to tar the samples first and then upload them with tarxwav3. This command converts your WAV samples (only mono for sure) into AKAI samples and uploads them to the device. For example I have a Adaptec SCSI card in my PC connected to a MO-drive. On the same SCSI-Bus I also have my AKAI Sampler. This way I can upload samples from my PC and directly use them on the Akai =) Also akaiutil is a command line tool and can be easily scripted =)

Interesting comment considering that N.I.uses chicken Systems proprietary software for ,importing and converting in both Battery and Kontakt, been that way for years......

that doens't make chickensys a better company. You ever bought software from them ? Years ago I was one of many who bought the MV8000 Software. It never worked as expected, and he charged money for a physical product (boxed) which many haven't received at all.

:) there are no analog sampler's either :) except the first turntables maybe where sound got cut in realtime into a plate.
    Or any tape based 'sampler'

Any akai sampler is digital, it has Analog/Digital Digital/Analog converter built in.
    All samples are stored digitally.

btw. gentlemen, I have found a perfect image mounter and it is called Alcohol Portable. Threw everything else in the bin when I tried this one.

I've been testing image mounting software lately, and used Akai and CDDA images, to see if it can mount it and read it. Loads of them failed to mount both properly, except Alcohol [either version] and Daemon Tools. I think UltraISO can mount them, but I'm not using UltraISO's driver for mounting, just using the program for optimising and compressing ISO to ISZ. Great program. It can actually use Alcohol or Daemon Tools for mounting images if you tell it so in the configuration menu.

My problems with having 9.897.568 files on the HD and reading all the different image files are over. Now all of the samples are neatly packed into ISZs and I mount them with Alcohol Portable.

UltraISO and Alcohol are brilliant programs. I didn't like Daemon Tools because of the unnecessary bloat. It used to be great 10 or more years ago...

    Cheers!
