Thanks guys. No, I haven't tried any VPN. I am not familiar with it. Is it paid or free service? Easy to configure?

  8. You can get free VPNs and paid VPNs. You get what you pay for. Paid VPNs you get great software and a fast service, free you get what you get and no to little support.

VPN works by tunneling a connection through your open ISP provided network. So, for example, you connect with a VPN host server in Chacago - all your ISP sees is a connection to Chacago. The VPN tunnels an inner connection from you to Chicago that looks just like a normal network connection to you and makes you look to the world like you're in Chicago. Or anywhere else in the world.

Nord VPN software is very easy to use. You get a map, you choose where you want to be and the connection gets made. Nord is paid for, but is very cheap if you get a long contract, and delivers connections that are >90% as fast as your ISP supplied connection.

    BolehVPN is also good.

It's your virgin account settings... Google it.

    Turn off parental settings/websafe.

There is a difference between what the OP sees and the page layout that should appear when Virgin Media UK is under an order of the Court to block a site.

This is a screenshot with Websafe turned off, taken a few moments before posting this reply, of what happens if you are a UK based Virgin Media customer and you attempt to access a site that is blocked by VM.

Note: it's the product of trying to access a site that I know to be blocked by VM. Not the sister site.

For the avoidance of doubt, I would like to confirm that the sister site does not appear to me to be blocked by Virgin Media. I had no problem getting onto the site when I temporarily disconnected my VPN.

As previously noted above, and if you're totally okay with turning off websafe parental control in your VM account settings, it should work for you. If, however, you are not the person who set up the VM account, you should seek the account holders explanation of why parental controls are turned on in that account.

Do any of these paid VPN with their software that you install pose a risk of destroying network settings in Windows in an irreparable way or something?

I had same problem with my ISP: you dont need a VPN just for that . The solution for me was going into router settings (192.168.1.1) and turn off filtering option. I cant be more specific because every router has a different menu diving, but you'll find it.
Meanwhile, you can access any filtered site by using tor browser

In any case, using VPN is always a good choice

    1. At the moment I am at BnB. So I don't have an account with Virgin Media.
    2. I switched on VPN in Opera but the website can't be reached.
    3. I have just recollected that I lost access to some torrent websites by VM one day a long time ago.
So I started to use my mobile providers for searching the torrents.
