Samplitude Pro X4 Released

    I heard a difference between the two DAWs while setting up a template from scratch. Decided to quickly investgate without getting lost in the weeds, and posting the result just as interesting info. Nothing more..

    I never mentioned summing or, anything to the like. What I am interested in is how sounds come together (or not) when working on a project. If I have the same perception after giving my ears a break or, come back the next day & find the same, then the project moves on.

    SD3, like nearly all other drum vstis, uses round robin samples, so the track will probably never sound the same, even if played in one DAW itself.

    SD3 & Addictive can be set to trigger non-static/fixed velocities.

    Even using the standard setup, what you hear are different hit variations.

    The over-all sound of the kit remains the same. This is the difference that one may hear in different DAWs.
    This is true for any instrument including vocals.

    ? Maybe it was just a slip of the pen (or in this case, key) but RR and static velocites are not the same.

    conclusion: No Avenger needs to read properly and probably needs more sleep, aslo that he speaks of himself in third person is not a good sign at all. [​IMG]

    I think the differences in level values come from the compressor,I've noticed in the past they are not ultra precise(and involve some random peak values,as you said),especially on drum sounds with sharp transients.

    So yes,it's better to compare dry samples;but in this case I'm not sure you'll hear any difference.

    Forget about the eye candy. Many of the toolbars can be turned of (some in part). From there you can customze many feature of the layout if you care to dive into the weeds.

    Does it do a decent job when given a task?
    Is the audio quality what it should be?

    What is it exactly, Samplitude? A daw or more like an Engineerings tool like protools?

    Yeah I figured that already. What makes it so special compared to ableton or bitwig for example?

    i've tried both and Samplitude wins hands-down.
    sam has a feature called object editing, basically whenever you have a clip you can add effects and stuff just for that clip. it's much more sophisticated and evovled than similar function in other DAWs. however SAM is also lagging in some other aspects ( automation is stone age). but it is very powerful.

    Ableton or bitwig are optimized for..Live and electronic music,they are cool on the creative process.
    SAM & Protools and others DAWs are maybe better for mixing for example,or other musical genres.

    Samplitude is superior also for surround work (up to 6 channels out - 5.1 or 6.0 - while Sequoia gets you up to 12, but as known is prohibitively expensive). You can design panning trajectories in non-real-time (within the time-region that you determine) that can then be edited for even more precise localization if necessary. This can be done on a single track or even within a single audio object, which is really quite extraordinary. And you can also design the layout of the outputs such that if you need to do a smooth diagonal pan from, for example, right rear to left front, you can configure the outputs in the DAW such that the (virtual) right rear and left front are next to each other...the audio still goes to right rear and left front but now the result is a smooth diagonal motion without the usual hole in the middle when you leave the outputs in the standard positions.
    Samplitude is not terribly friendly for recording VST instruments, but this can be set up with a little effort (better to do this in Reaper). SAM is also not useful for third party surround plug-ins, some of which are quite excellent for multichannel spatial effects. I look forward to seeing if the new update, which now allows multi-channel sound files on a single track, has resolved this problem.
