I recommend Presonus Quantum cause I have it myself (stable drivers on Windows). They also have a smaller version Presonus Quantum 2 that is cheaper. Also the Quantum has one of the lowest latency numbers in the world.
M.2 SSD is much faster than SSD. SSD speed is around 500MB/s, M.2 SSD NVMe is around 3500MB/s. Don't cost a lot more so well worth the investment.

It depends on which DAW, you should check how many cores/threads your DAW supports. For example Ableton supports max 32 threads on Windows and 64 on Mac. i9-7960X has 16 cores (32 threads) and i9-9900X has 10 cores (20 threads). If things go on like they're doing now then both will be totally fine for the next 5 years at least, they're top of the line now so they'll age well.

Also check AMD Ryzen Threadripper, they say it's very good and it costs less than a half of the 9900X. However do some deep research since I'm not sure AMD is as reliable as Intel. I had a bad experience with the last AMD thing i bought.

For the CPU cooler you have to see if you want to go liquid (good cooling but very loud) or air (a bit less efficient but much quieter). Noctua makes some great air coolers, but if you want to go liquid Corsair Hydro should be good.

yeah thats true, but Nvidia wont work with macOS Mojave, so it is no option if he wants to use it anyways. Hopefully that change soon or at least some day, that passive card you posted in the other thread looks awesome ! <3

If you gonna build a Hackintosh you should only build with hardware that is tried and tested for Hackintosh. Windows will work on anything, Hackintosh would only work properly on some hardware. Hackintosh is a completely different animal so look away from everything I have said in this thread. This person have knowledge about Hackintosh:
