I have noticed that, sometimes, when we participate on a thread our posts are not relevant to the subject under discussion. We should remain on topic when participating on any thread.
First, the OP deserves our respect. Writing off-topic comments neither solves nor advances the OP's cause. It is tantamount to saying to the OP "I don't care about your problem. My problem is more important than yours."
Second, if we discuss an off-topic problem and find a solution to it, other members in the same situation will not benefit from it because they will be looking elsewhere for the solution. It is difficult to find a solution if its buried inside an unrelated topic.
Third,@SAiNT has given us free reign to open as many threads as we wish, as long as they are in compliance with the rules.
Finally, if we chose to not open a thread, there is enough content in this Forum enabling us (in the majority of cases) to posit our problem in an already existing thread while remaining on topic.
In sum, we should make a collective effort to remain on topic whenever we participate on any thread. Thank you.

Edit: As noted below by the Moderator, this thread is not about creating a new rule. I simply am voicing my opinion, and welcome everyone to voice his or hers.

Yeah...good luck with that dude :hillbilly:

Someone's trying really hard to become a moderator. Just toss him a bone already. He couldn't possibly be worse than the current ones.

Ah, now that's the thing about group discourse - imo to try to over-constrain those occasional tangents would not only cause all manner of deletion, scolding, retribution, vengeance, pistols-at-dawn etc., it would also stifle the natural flow of lively dialogue between the cwazeeee mooozitians that frequent these parts... to be frank, for me quite often these flurries and random exchanges are more interesting/amusing/useful than the actual OP... besides, on this site there is already almost a surplus of ready solutions - if ever i've been stuck (or just curious) i've only had to use the search tool and (ok it's not perfect) i've found what i was looking for eventually...

This sounds like a topic I would come up with when I was 13 years old just discovering the internet... oh man I got roasted hard back then...

Makes me also realise how long I've actually been using forums and the like... man is experienced now and still shit lol...

I can't see any logical argument in your answer, only a personal attack that does not bring anything to this conversation.

In lieu of maintaining apropos to this thread, I hope that it would be OK to take this opportunity to ask you a personal question. In practicality and in life generally, pie is overwhelmingly round, be it bought at a bakery or from children funding a school trip, that is, a baked dish which is usually made of a pastry dough casing that covers or completely containing a filling of various sweet or savoury ingredients (thank you Wikipedia]. Pray tell, why do you insist in naming yourself Paul Pi, leaving out the important "e". You seem like an otherwise intelligent fellow, so why would you try to cause trouble and attempt to steer this thread in a different course by blatantly calling all our attention to something otherwise so primarily obvious? If it smells like a troll, tastes like a troll and lives under a bridge, well then....If we aren't the solution, then we are the problem. Now say that you're sorry and edit your profile so the next time that you post you don't drag us all off topic and ruin our otherwise wonderful collective experience.

  15. We could be like KvR – two hundred arseholes fighting over a turd – or we can be Audiosex.pro, which is a community of people loosely affiliated with a place where people do a whole lot more trying than buying. That connection is essential because this place is just about the only place audio people can go where they don’t get judged. That means it has to be a bit wild and woolly, a bit off topic and a bit mad hat. If you want to stay on topic there’s Gearslutz – five thousand arseholes fighting over a turd for at least ten years, KvR and all the user groups for all the DAWs and all the forums for all the plugs. Here should be different. Here should be home. Here it should be OK to be a bit weird.

And let’s face it, guys, we are all a bit weird.

So, there is not a rational conclusion to this?

    Musicians are just weird? :dunno:

I have already stated this in another thread: No one has to answer everything an other person has said. But people always want to argue about everything and try to be the authority and this is nothing but a sign of uneducation. If someone says something the other one does not like but what is not relevant in the first place he just does not have to continue the discussion.

And if you're not able to do this, you're just showing that you're not properly educated.:shalom:

Wait, you were 13 and posting threads on the internet asking everyone to be polite? Strange timeline. I think I was looking for music, porn, conspiracy theories (ok, that was later) and raging with other idiots in MMOs and MOBAs. But also then I was reading newspapers when taking a shit. Now I watch memes on YT and get my news from knowyourmeme. Oh well...

But I think my wisdom has grown. And now we're both here. So it can't be all bad.

@blaqmatic Since you dislike a comment I made which specifically was directed to someone else, and in response to what that person said; I would like you to state your reason for it. Thank you.

A couple of members bashing a fellow members head in for simply wanting people staying more on topic and respect other peoples threads. Good to see who you are.

  21. And you're not complaining about topicality, you're complaining about hostility, which is a different issue. I agree that people arguing about politics in the middle of a support thread is a tad too far, but equally making pettifogging rools just amplifies hostility. You're always going to get people who are absolutely wrong insisting that they're absolutely right. Try dealing with an A n R guy during a mix session ffs. I'd rather have a culture of learning how deal with bad personalities than a system of rools. Rools never deliver. Dealing with it does.
