So Ive noticed a sweet impact on snares in the last few years, DooM 2016, Fear Factory Genexus and several soundcloud guys doing the modern industrial metal thing. I've tried all kinds of things to get the same kind of snare effect (EQ, Envelope cutoff) but no success until last night I think. Some do use those EDM/Hardcore snares but they never feel right to me, too much chizz and fizzle. So out of desperation I used a sub 808 to layers with my snare. Is anyone else layering stuff like this with their snare?

Here is a track with the layer turned on and off.

If it sounds good. It’s good. I’m on a system right now that can’t reproduce anything below 50hz. I can hear the difference. So technically I wouldn’t say that layer is a sub. More like high/lows.

Lazy guy :rofl:Try with dbx 120xp instead of eqing and choose between the layered 808 or the harmonic one. Let me know what is better!

Sounds good to me. Yes, it is normal. In Addictive Trigger, there are some samples like that to layer with stuff.
I never used a sub with snare but this sounds good.
The kick was also very good.

Sounds good to me, "tight" and aggressive snares. Keep it up and keep sharing/commenting your methods with us ;)
