    Hello there,

    I'm really interested in making repack versions for big sized Kontakt libraries.

    For instance the original size for Beyron Audio - Altron is 28 gb; however, Beyron Audio Altron (KONTAKT) Repack is only 3.35 GB .

    It is really impressive and so usefull for keeping free space on the hard drive.

    Does anyone have any idea about making repack or any tutorial?

    Thanks in advance.

    Of some reason this library is full of doublets (same samples being added again and again to the library) so you can´t do a repack like that with other Kontakt libraries im afraid.
    I guess the guy who made this library wanted to make it look much bigger than it actually is so he could charge 299 euros for it!

    My 5 cents

    As I understand, a repack simply removes all the bloated crap (unofficially) that is not required, but you would need to know what the bloated crap is I suppose, in order to remove it and create a new smaller install package?

    That is correct for a "REPACK" which is going to be distributed. Of course, you can make your own personal NKS/ NKX with only the samples you desire and laid out in directories you chose.

    Ok, here´s an example:

    If you take a library like Embertone Leonid Bass 16bit version (about 1.5 Gb) and save the stereo patch only you´ll will have shriked the library down to about 600 mb.

    But as SS say: You need to know what you´re dealing with :yes:

    Same samples added over and over to the library by the dev.

    One way of repacking big libraries is to take out certain mic samples, It has already been done with some piano library taking off microphones samples that where only for ambiance.

    @TranceDream
    Another way of making a lib smaller is if you got the samples in uncompressed form of .wav, to resave them as NI's lossless compressed format, packed into containers.
