Maybe some of you also found out about this yourselves.

With old & (altough rarely) new samples libraries, some companies are sampling from other's libraries.

For example, Spectrasonics took some drumloops from the X-static Goldmine CD for their Distorted Reality CD as well as some ethnic african sounds from the Master Studio Collection for the Heart of Africa Libraries, the (in)famous Vengeance ripped and squash-compressed samples from Zero-G Datafile & Altered States (amongst many), and presets that were in specifics libraries that re-appears on some other libraries, either completely untouched or as part of original sounds. (For example the Advanced Media Trax CDs which took some sound from Distorted Reality)

Is there a explanation to this type of procedure?

curious, have you read about this or is it your first hand experience?

think ive seen similar discussions about companies even stealing samples from each other, dont know if there is an proper "explanation" though

I've experienced something worse, a company called studiolinkedvst stole a patch from tone 2 gladiator and used it as a sample in one of their dog shit plugins. I know this because the patch is so distinct, it's in the leads section of gladiator and it's called 'prodigy'.
I've also come to learn that the guy from tone 2 is a bit of a shady character aswell spying on people who uses his plugins.

On another note, how can you tell that certain samples come from another place? This has potential to be a GREAT thread. You should perhaps make an edit in your OP asking people to list great classic sample libraries that have been sampled. It would help to promote great developers and maybe unheard of underrated companies to flourish

sure, we here samples "repurposed" all the time in different commercial libraries since the beginning of all this. How many sample libraries had the "amen" break etc and whatnot... it's pretty common, and yeah, some companies sue each other and whatnot, but it's pretty well known and rampant.

some vengeance samples still have the ueberschall metadata in them lmao
this is nothing new, the datafiles cd were ripping shit themselves, so everybody copied everybody in the end. in fact if you read the labels they say you can't even use the samples on the cd lol

Yeah someone made a post like this some times ago, and as i said there basically almost all the sample libraries companies use samples from other sources, last example is KSHMR with his Sounds of KSHMR Vol. 3 where he (or whoever works for him) basically ripped pieces of the Doom soundtrack, rearranged them a bit and just put them in the pack.
Does that mean the samples are bad? no. That's the problem.
