I was tearing my hair out over overall problems concerning everything usb until I ditched a usb extension cable connecting my card to the computer which I had put in an Ikea wardrobe to lessen the ambient room noise. I ditched the extension and moved the card close enough that I no longer needed it and now everything including my wireless keyboard and mouse no longer have dropouts and all is once again hunky dorry. Duhhhhhh.

I got totally OCD about noise suppression on my last build, but it's impossible if you're overclocking and/or using a more powerful gpu for visual editing etc. However i did manage to find a fanless 600W PSU which works both flawlessly AND noiselessly. Somewhat pricey, but for an obsessive in full fever, thoroughly essential...

Don'tyou have some problems with Latency?I read many times that you shouldn't use long cables for your sound card because problems of latencies.

 

Yes, we're using a passively cooled, near silent DAW.
Watercooled with oversized pump running at low RPM and large passive radiators.
Overdimensioned PSU with low RPM fan.
Motherboard with large passive heatsinks on VRMs.
Relatively cool RAM modules using Samsung B-die.
No graphics card, multiple monitors all using CPU integrated graphics.
This system enables us to run an otherwise hot overclocked Intel CPU without breaking a sweat at large projects

Yeah, by some margin the most i ever paid for a PSU... really is an awesome piece of precision engineering. When it was delivered at first i was handling it like it was a quinlong vase...

I'm running an intel 7820x @ 4.5GHz - the 7820x has a fairly high 140W TDP, which makes any passive cooling option nigh impossible, unless perhaps installed inside a freezer... in the end i settled for a quality air-cooled solution instead: a Noctua NH-D15, which is splendid too - now, unless i'm purposely stress-testing, i generally hardly hear anything whatsoever from my trusty stealth rig - other than my own sweet effusions of course...

Am I required to verify my identity?
Verification is a process where users give evidence to show that they are the person that they claim to be. This is to reduce fraud and people impersonating known figures. There are a number of ways to do this. The most common way to verify your identity is by posting a link to your Steemit profile on a website or social media account which you are already known for having such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, a blog, or photography site.

Many users also like to post a photo or a video which shows them holding up a sheet of paper with the current date and their Steem account name handwritten on it. This is a great way to add a personal touch to verifying.

What information is shown in my wallet?

The wallet page shows any the progress of any Steem Dollar to STEEM conversions as well as the status of a power down. Your savings balance is STEEM and SBD tokens that are subject to 3 day withdraw waiting period. This is an extra security measure in case your account credentials are compromised. How do I send money to another user?

• From your wallet page, click the STEEM or Steem Dollar balances with the down arrow next to them.

• Enter the amount of STEEM or Steem Dollars to send.

What is shown in my profile?
At the top of your profile is your display name and reputation score. Below your display name is the number of followers you have, the number of posts and comments you have written, and the number of people you are following. It also shows the month and year when your account was created.

You have the option to change your avatar and display name on the Settings page. There, you can set additional information such as "about" information, your location, and add a link to a website of your choosing. You also have the option to set a cover image for your profile.

You can view your own profile by clicking on the link to your Blog in your account menu.

How do I change my avatar image and other profile information?
Your profile info, avatar image, and cover image are set in your Settings page. In order to update your avatar picture and cover image, you will need to host the images somewhere. This can be done by uploading it to a Steemit comment or post, or using a third-party image hosting site such as Postimage. Once your image is uploaded, copy its URL and paste it into the "Profile Picture URL" box for the avatar, or the "Cover Image URL" box for the cover image. Then click the Update button and enter your password or active key.

What is the recommend size for the cover image?
The cover image will be resized/scaled depending on the device being used. Therefore it is recommend to use an image that will still look good when cropped or resized. A 2048x512 image is the optimal size to work for most devices.

Just want to say it all depends on the fans, i got a 'Noctua NH-u14s' cpu fan and a bunch of other noctua fans (dont remember the model) inside and its completely silent

 

Man, you want absolute silent, peace of mind, and forget you have a mini supercomputer next to you (take any system before the pentium, dx100, your current computer will be millions time faster !) ? I will tell you.

But before, 2 things to take into account:
1-any hybrid daw/gaming system will be 100 times harder to make it silent, as most powerful graphic cards, even if noise has been improved compared to ,say, 10 years ago, they remain huge heat/noise machines
2- silent is the new monitor. What this even means ? 15-25 years ago, when computer parts were super expensive, people would pick their best parts with the money they had. .. and at the end, they only had a few hundred bucks to spend on the monitor..and would choose a super crappy one. Today, people will first focus on power, ergonomics, look, and when is about silence, they don't have the extra $€£¥ to buy those parts that make less noise.

So, enough teasing?

Here what i have, for one of my main setups:

1- Antec P280 Case--> it is so fantastic and well built, it comes with 3 12cm fans, 2 top and 1 front. They are perfect, i doubt there is something more quiet. They have a little switch, to select 3 speeds. I put them on ULTRA LOW, like under 700rpm, the only noise they do, is the air blowing, like we would do with our mouth. You WON'T need extra fans, my hardware barely reaches 32°c (89.6F)
The chassis is great, lots of space. You can even go further, and get a 'noise' kit, with some foam panels, to use on the big side panels, back, that costs like 35 bucks... but when the p280 is full open, we can't here any noise, let alone when it is closed. ..
Only problem : the case only has 2 usb2 and 2 usb3 ports, near the power button. Hey, your motherboard will have all USB ports, and you can still buy a pcie card, with usb3.1 stuff.

Forget about other brands or models. This p280 WAS BUILT for almost 0 noise. With the foam kit, i guess it becomes simply 100% silent.

2- cpu. Some cpus have a graphic chip built in the silicon . Others don't. With such cpu, you don't need an extra graphic card, as it will easily handle ONE 4k display, and probably 2 monitors at 2560*1440. No additional graphic card= no extra heat or NOISE. The embedded graphic chip will have ALL the power to display your beautiful plugin GUIs, no worries

3- cpu fan. Noctua will be your best friend. Keep in mind, we're no longer in 2000s, today's cpus have low tdp's, under 70watts. Only the very big guys/extreme might reach the 130watt tdp. Most cpus will barely reach the 70-80watts, so... no need for a 18kg heatsink. A nice 50-70 $€ noctua, with low rpm, will be more than enough: hey, if the 'crappy' cheap stock heatsinks already are ok (excepting the noise ), a cheap noctua will always be several times better. No need for crazy watercooling. It won't be better than the noctua heatsink !

4- power supply. Here, no other choice. You need to go fanless. Even if a power supply, with a 14cm fan and auto stop/start fan (if heat stays under a certain threshold, the fan won't spin ), will generate very little noise, the best will be fanless. There aren't many options, they will cost like 200 bucks, and can only deliver like 450-600w.... with several hard drives and a big +300watt gaming graphic card, it might be to little.. but hey, this is a silent daw system, not a hybrid daw/gaming, so..). One + point, all these fanless power supply are often certified platinum.. which means a yield of , if i remember well, +96%

'pro' tip (I'm no pro at all, but it sounds cool ;) --> never use 'neon' lighting on the same circuit as your daw or audio equipment : those lights create a ton of induction on the electrical circuit (unless having capacitors system to compensate, as the old parkings, 1 capacitive neon for 2 inductif neons ). Induction will mean parasites... which will mean noise.


Regarding the antec p280, many will say 'ohhh, that's many years old. .. today, there are other fractals.. bequiets .... much better.
Believe me. THERE IS ANYTHING like the P280. Not a surprise why is still being made and sold. With the extra foam kit, like this german website

Let me tell you, i know what noise is... graphic cards, cpus, bad cases.. you can barely hear yourself talking... when you can have fun working/ hobby with music, and you have perfect silence. .. it's priceless !
Or rather... it is worth the extra cash for a fanless power supply, a good case and a good cpu heat sink
