That's been my impression looking into it at the RME website, but I can't find much on it in the way of reviews or real world use (latency, monitoring, how to's ect). There's a couple lame videos on it on youtube and I did find a couple mentions of it on gearslutz, nothing beyond what I can find at the RME website.

Basically I know shit all about it but specs.

Alternatively the hunt for a small analog mixer has been a pain as well. If I go this rout, I don't want an analog mixer that doubles as an audio interface. I don't want built in effects or other such non-sense. These are basically my choices without selling my children's hearts on the black market:

    Mackie 1642VLZ4
    Soundcraft LX7ii 16-channel
Allen & Heath ZED-18 (or 24) (bastard connects to the computer but I don't think it's necessary, also lack of outputs for some reason)

Ideally a RME HDSPe RayDAT would fall out of the sky on my lap and I'd be set with an upgradeable path for a while. :)

A&H Mixwizard, any version [although v3 has the best specs], best sounding small console. I was gonna buy it, but went with Soundtracs Topaz in hope to get kinda vintage British sound that I love, and it was practically new. I just couldn't pass on it. My heart would break. :P It goes so well with Drawmer DL241.

I'd love me some SSL, but I really don't know where I'd put it.

That's a great find wasgedn! Me like very much!
It looks in good condition. The only problem with Soundtracs mixers, as far as I know, is they use weird proprietary power supplies that like to fail, but there's nothing in it one couldn't fix with common electronic parts found in better stores. Also, inserts are reversed, but there's a nice cable chart at the back of each mixer, so you don't need a manual to tell you that.

Ask if the guitar pedal is part of the package. :) And I would try to get it for 400 euro.

This one looks very interesting! Sooo compact for a 16 mono+2 stereo inputs and 16[!] preamps. + Zoom quality FX.
