Once again, I write to reiterate the importance and necessity of installing some updates. Every time I read "I don't update my system because I don't go on line and updates slow down your computer," I can't help but wonder how efficiently that system is. Sometimes in a simple security update lies the solution to a big problem. I have posted some of those here http://audiosex.pro/threads/the-windows-7-thread.42310/page-7#post-376068
Security update KB3033929 certainly is the solution to many failed installations of software. The reason is that Windows 7 requires this update in order to validate SHA-2 signed kernel drivers. A perfect example of this issue is Focusrite's 2nd generation Scarlett and Claret USB. Without KB3033929 the driver would not install.https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en...-Windows-7-machine-digital-signature-problem-
Users of W8 and W10 do not require this update because SHA-2 signing and verification functionality is already included in these operating systems.

You quoted me totally out of context, I NEVER said that I "dont go on line and updates slow down your computer" :dont: What I said was:

I then went on to say that: : "Sometimes in a simple security update lies the solution to a big problem"

That is totally opposite to what you misquoted me for.

There is a free portable app USBDeview that lists all USB devices that currently connected to your computer, as well as all USB devices that you previously used.
For each USB device, extended information is displayed: Device name/description, device type, serial number (for mass storage devices), the date/time that device was added, VendorID, ProductID, and more...
USBDeview also allows you to uninstall USB devices that you previously used, disconnect USB devices that are currently connected to your computer, as well as to disable and enable USB devices.
You can also use USBDeview on a remote computer, as long as you login to that computer with admin user.

Blimey what has been happening in this thread since I last looked. I can't be bothered with reading a lot of hate. but I know that @The Pirate knows his stuff and is a reasonable person. Sadly this is like a microcosm of the worlds current problems. Idiots with a belief think that that trumps facts.

Guys, all this is going way too personal.
Which demonstrates a lack of technical arguments.

You should search a bit more before throwing any doubt on a member's intentions.
The Pirate is a very active member helping others all the time.
    And you?
Saying without a proof that there are bad intentions in promoting a tuned win version is insulting and there for is not acceptable.

Last but not least, many people use win7 and don't agree with Microsoft policy, is that so difficult to understand?
Should people be fan boys of the enterprise that make the system they use?

Please don't jump on a fight that will not solve anything.
Specially going personal and insulting that way.

    OK, cut it out. :guru:

Here's a news flash from somewhere on the wwweb:

Windows 7 to start showing end of support notifications

Windows machines that are powered by Windows 7 OS will soon start receiving the end of support notifications. Support for consumer versions of Windows 7 will end on January 14, 2020, while Enterprise-customers will be able to choose and pay for extended support for up to three years. Microsoft chose April 2019 to start notifying users about the end of support for Windows 7, giving customers "plenty of time to migrate to Windows 10"...

    thx..
    Aileron

i will use win7 also for surfing in 2035...and i will have no issues

    why ppl need support ?
    cause of virus updates ?
cause of compability of their vst products?
so microsuck say we stop support so vst devs stop making win7 combatibel software ?
