My guitar player has the Tascam, but I've never used it. I'd expect the pre's to be ok.I went for a MOTU HD192. 12 in, 12 out. But I'm recording live drums so needed the inputs. Also, I had recently gotten a 24 track board so I could use those preamps with the MOTU.

Not so much a "studio" proper as a Beat Cave perhaps, equipped with a mix of old and contemporary recording gear (twin ADATs and a plugins-crammed Pro Tools PC) this byroom-turned-Juke Joint besides guitars + 7 amps accommodates a grand piano and a 1985 Roland model 5600 electric piano. All recording and mixing is usually done in mono by me. Not always, depends. I use Quad ESL57's for general playback, but have a mono Sennheiser studio monitor (from roughly 1972) in an adjacent room for neutrality reference, at the pre-mastering as well as mastering stages. Dubbing vocals, if not done using comfortable David Clark headsets, is also possible in front of the mono monitor and a directional microphone facing away from it. A considerable amount of "spillback" from the audio playback onto the new vocal track is inevitable this way but -after companding - in practice this returns a rather "Live"-like, or ambient, feel about otherwise well-controllable tracking, which pays off in the mix. I (or we, more often than not) make guitar-based pop/rock/ballads.

It's more like a setup than a studio. So I should share my photo in this topic.

Yip, cosign, nice gear, not the average „...do it for fun“- appeal!
Only record i know from Down Under that could fit to your setup would be the Snakadaktal Debut, very compressed sounding but a good one!

A great classic method from the valve (= tube) era, quite preventing the rather sterile hyper-insulation of cans-monitored dubbing. :guru:

May not seem like much but this bad boy packs power.

Also, don't mind my terrible monitor placement I'm in the works of getting a better studio desk and since I'm not doing too much mixing/mastering right now I'm leaving it how it is...

    Interface - Presonus AudioBox iOne
Monitors - Presonus Eris 4.5 or some shit...
    Keyboard - Korg Microkey 2

We have the same keyboard, except mine is 61 keys. What do you think of this Akai Advance?Personnally I liked the keys and its big knobs at the beginning but now, after some months it's all what I hate;some keys have a spring sound, you have to press like a brute for the Aftertouch and its big knobs are too big, when you are writing an automation you can't -or with difficulty- go from 0 values to 127 values because they are too big between your fingers. And I don't talk about it's stupid VIP software,I have used it 2 times maybe.

I'm disappointed not to have bought the Native Instrument one instead.
