If all we wanted were the comfort of our own opinions, we would not have left the cave age.

The problem is that each day we deal with two ways of seeing the harsh human reality: When seeing a beggar, a certain group of people thinks "-what can be done in terms of the development of public policies to better distribute income and take away this citizen of misery? " (which sometimes generates misconceptions like in some places of the planet, where people simply give up fighting and only rely on the help the state offers without struggling for a better condition) while others would say. "Fuck that, I live on meritocracy. If he is in this condition, one way or another, it was his choice to be a dirty and poor beggar" (in some countries of the world, this notion of individualism can deform civilizing values to the point that beggars are shot dead or burned alive as a way to "clean the city").

Those are two completely different visions of the world: solidarity/assistentialism X individualism/meritocracy. These two visions, in practice, interpenetrate, dialogue, but minds are so fucked up today that people are choosing one side over another. Who loses? All of us!
