This woman earned $13,000 in 1 month writing YouTube jingles on Fiverr

Even the most talented musicians struggle to turn their skills into a regular income, but 28-year-old Sarah Hughes has already bought her own house and paid for a wedding in the last year.

Hughes, like most of us, works between the hours of 9am to 5pm every weekday. But unlike the average commuter she also takes time out of her day to potter around the house, do chores, meet friends, or go shopping. She never works after 5pm, or on weekends.

Hughes told Business Insider she made almost $13,000 last month, or about ten times higher than the UK national average.

Hughes is a freelancer on Fiverr, a marketplace where anyone can buy freelance services for as little as $5.

She has been using the platform since 2013 and charges up to $300 a time to create original jingles. She can play the ukulele and sing but, she says, her real talent is with Apple's recording software, Logic Pro X.

Her Fiverr page advertises original ballads for Valentine's Day, voiceover work, and nursery rhymes. More recently, she told Business Insider, there's been a lot of demand from YouTube creators who want cutesy backing music for videos designed to entertain kids.

Without Fiverr, Hughes said, her finances "wouldn't be good."

"I got married in November, and just exchanged on a house," she told Business Insider. "We've saved up for huge things."

ugh not matter what you do even if you are making something u like, you still have to hustle and do some shitty work. It's just how it is. If ya wanna make money, u gtta do crap. The question is exactly how much of that crap you wanna do and how much of ur own thing you want and you have to strike that balance.

Some people are willing to suck dick to get something, others aren't willing to do anything at all and some have found a balance of what they're comfortable with and what they think is fair.

Personally me, using stuff like fiver and all that is just sooo boooring and annoying, I'd rather hustle with stuff I find fun like working on my own projects and ideas that interest and excite me... sadly, that is a looooong long way up.

If one's desire is mostly to make money, music may not be the best choice to achieve that. Only a very tiny percentage of all musicians will make big money. It's more likely to win a million $$$ in a lottery I would say.

I work in an industry where you could quite easily earn $10.000 to $20.000 a month. But it's not a highly esteemed work and it really sucks sometimes. Or most of the time to be honest.
Money really is'nt everyrhing I must say and if I could turn back time I would not go the same way again.
Less money, a more interesting job I would love would be my way

 

i got a buddy that was making 8k a few months ago, and its been multiplying since, making youtube videos, last time we hung out, about a month ago,he showed me, was at like 12k. youtube alone, now hes got a whole lawyer system + media people monetizing facebook videos. power of the internet.

 

when my son was in high school, he made a series of youtube videos where he would teach bboy dance moves. they were not fancy videos, but he quickly built up a bunch of subscribers. soon he was making a few hundred bucks a month. then he went to college and gave up the youtube videos. six years later, he's still making over $50 a month from those old videos. you can definitely make a decent living off youtube, but you have to find a niche that isn't already saturated and find a way to let people know that your videos exist.

Correct. But why is exactly this method stated? Is it the most simple one? There is no (technical) reason for this. That's why I said "finally" because it seems that there are not enough statements for very pragmatic methods.

 

it was just a suggestion of one possible way for a creative person to make a living. nothing more than that.

better then working from 7-at least 16:30 for 2700 and you more or less hate it(i like it also but these days you kno')...when doing own company its other but you a slave also then...no time...24/7 numbers and asholes in the head...
a fabric job from 6:00 to 14:00 is like Holiday

you get no credit anymore ..no interest rates..but when i got the right idea for refuggee related company i get instant credit at bank..

 

he only ever did 18 videos. the most watched video has only had 51,000 views. some of these people who have millions of views are raking in the cash. the only way to make revenue is to enable google ads. and they only let you do that once you meet a certain threshold of minimum views.

 

Speaking of YT videos, some people really deserve the money, since that can be a lot of work. Like this guy... I love his videos. He always puts a smile on my face.
