I need some advice from you experienced mixers! Almost everytime i layer sounds together,i get some sort of a phazing problem and i'm in doubt about it because i do not have good monitors and headphones, no room treatment, and i am not that experienced when it comes to mixing so im asking you guys to give a look and maybe give me some of your knowledge when it comes to layering sounds! Thanks and here is the link with the example https://soundcloud.com/sh3l-is-sl-1/some-chords

When I layer sounds I usually use one sound for the lower frequencies for instance a sub bass, then I´ll add another sound with more of the midrange and a third one for more top end. This will result in a fuller sound. Also use a EQ on each sound you are layering to cut off the frequencies you dont need. For example cut most of the low end from the sound you used for the top end. If you have to much bottom end in each sound you are layering you could en up with a very messy low end which can result in phasing and very muddy sound.
Hope this helped. I dont know if I explained good enough for you to understand.

I didn't hear any phasing problems. Sometimes when things dont sound right to you, then it could just be that the synths that are layered dont go well with eachother. So it depends on the sound your looking for.

I had the same Problem before. Try using a zero Latency EQ like Fabfilter Pro-Q for example, to do the splitting, then you shouldnt have the Problem anymore. If you dont use a zero latency Eq the Signals after the splitting might be moved a few samples and that is defined as phasing. If you use the same Splitting frequency on both eqs, you might get a bump because some frequencies in the overlapping area could add up to more than there was before the split, depending on the slope of the filter, but that is unrelated to the phasing problem.
This applys when you split up a sound into different bands to use effects on for example the Highs of a bass only...

Rockslide had some good tips in how to create some layers but it has more to do with mono/stereo issues and timbres that fighting for frequencies that's why I always advise to get a meter at the master-bus I always use TT dynamic range meter it's also to watch your phasing. If it's in the green area your ok. Also get a spectrum meter to cut the low end in your sound because below a certain range like 230 hz the mono area is dominant and that is where most phasing problems exist also don't get your panning to wide it makes your sound disappear always thrust your ears and A/B your changes. Just practice, practice, practice

I forgot to mention that most sounds can generate Resonating frequencies some resonance is good for your sound but if you put on a sharp q and boost the gain of that BELL eq all the way up and you look for a nasty spot you realise that some timbres can generate a lot of resonance try to cut it with -5 db on a little wider q and you realise you get a much cleaner sound. Some sounds with a lot of resonating sounds can really muddy your track. You can do mino's trick but put the eq in mid/side mode before you split the frequencies it should work better. It's also better to route all tracks to a sub mix buss before you do the frequencie splitting
