USB 4 will double the speed of USB 3.2 to 40Gbps and feature Thunderbolt 3 integration.
It was only last week when the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) revealed details of the new USB 3.2 format and name changes for USB 3.0/3.1. Now, the organization has announced USB 4, which increases the maximum 20Gbps offered by USB 3.2 to 40Gbps.
That 40Gbps speed has been available to users of Thunderbolt 3 for a few years now. Back in 2017, Intel said it would be making the protocol royalty free for chip makers and device manufacturers. That’s finally happening, with the technology being integrated into USB 4.

As with the current Thunderbolt 3 specification, USB 4 can daisy-chain external graphics card enclosure, two 4K monitors, and other Thunderbolt 3 accessories using a single cable connected to a PC. USB 4 will be compatible with USB 2.0 and 3.2, too.

We WANT 96k bundle immediately, but with separated installers (otherwise it's sh**), and it MUST work with windows, Linux, mac, Atari, PlayStation etc... because I use it. this is taking too much time....

 

This is a very valuable information. As I'll have to change computer , so I'll wait for USB 4.0

 

I just hope it won't need a branded chip in every usb cable...

Don't worry. There's a symlink/no install release by heretic repackagers on the the making.

My sources tell me that there's a little discrepancy between them, some want to call it "96Khz", others "192Khz", and others "384Khz", for apparently unknown reasons.

 

I'm going to have to download some more RAM to make use of this

You need to downgrade to Studio One version 2.2. the one with 8 bit support and ultrasonic sampling.

look at the virus TI, with a usb2 connection.

With a usb2 cable, even at 80% of the max bandwidth, we can pass like 250 STEREO tracks at 44/16, and at least +100 at 96/24... at 48/24, at least 100-150 stereo tracks.

And when we use the virus TI in usb mode, we only have...... 3 stereo outputs (inputs inside the daw), for the 16 multimode tracks.
Sure, polyphony is limited, and we can't have 100 notes on each track... but at least, the hardware could have given us the option to have 16 stereo outputs via the daw !
Instead, ONLY 3 stereo outs.
ONLY BECAUSE access music decided it... worse, we can even use the usb outs at the same time as the analog outs !
For sure, the 16 stereo outs is a feature they want to implement on a future TI 3

By the way. . What the fuck are access music doing. ..like almost 15 years that they haven't released a new synth... what are they doing? Why so long ?

So yeah... you can have the best hardware. ...but if companies aren't willing to use the hardware at max speed... there's a big problem. .

Not sure if all OS will support it. ..

I was checking the Internet for a riser, pcie-->m.2, so i can have m.2 stuff on one 3770k system.... but surprise, it requires a recent cpu socket... something like a 1155.... is fuked... too old...

I wouldn't be surprised if such usb adapter required some recent Os... or some firmware version. ..some cpu sicket...

This is just the industry, always rendering the older hardware obsolete , in a way or another, so you are forced to buy EVERYTHING. ..

Like the PRO line of HP laptops... they add a few custom HP chips and components to the graphic card, so it no longer is a 100% nvidia or amd card...and require proprietary, nvidia/amd -customized DRIVERS... so when the 3year warranty is off, and you try to install a new OS, Windows will install the drivers for ALL components... EXCEPTING the graphic adapter...
...and when we search for new drivers on the hp website= NONE, if we try to install the drivers from nvidia or hp, i will say 'no compatible hardware could be found. ..'.... and so we get stuck with a perfectly working laptop, at 640*480 8 color resolution.
No way to install a new Os, it will remain forever with its 'old' .
i hate HP... and i know why. .!

 

I broke this news to my numerous items of peripheral gear earlier. They unplugged themselves and caught the first bus out of town.
