That's absolutely not true at all and I don't agree at all...

First off, creativity has been better than it has EVER BEEN! Youtube video quality has gone sooooo much better compared to 2008. There are so many more amazing platforms now we can hustle on from youtube to patreon, bandcamp etc etc etc etc... software has gone better, computers are gone better. It's soooo much more fun to do this shit compared to years ago... now I don't have to worry about CPU overloading after a couple synths, I can go on foreeveeeeeer...

SECOND, being in the creative industries is healthier than EVER. You think its oversaturated but it always has been, now your just seeing it since its all in one platform, the internet. But the internet is what makes it great, becuase it makes it easier for you to get yourself out there the way YOU WANT TO DO IT. You have control over the way you distribute your content nowadays. You no longer have to rely on this label, or that publisher or blah blah, you can do your own shit and build it up yourself without having to suck too much dick...

Third, it was harder to get into electronic music back then than it is now or couple years ago... making quality tracks was harder since less access to knowledge and better tech. Distribution platforms were harder to access, the music wasn't as prevalent. There were alot of great artists back then that stayed in the shadow compared to many artists getting exposure now because alot of genres weren't that popular yet, and it's still kinda like that now with the less popular genres...

I think the main problem is your approach, just like that previous guy who posted about giving up... yeah, I agree that there is alot of music and it is hard to stand out and sometimes there are certain genres you like that feel overdone. That's why, taking a bit of a break and getting back into it always helps, it gives you some time to think of new creative ideas without having to be stuck in a loop. Taking a break pulls you out of that loop you are currently in while allowing you to refresh new ideas and explore new things... then you get back into things with different ideas and creativity and it inspires you to continue trying to make something for yourself and not giving up...

Feeling like things aren't the same anymore is an excuse to not be able to develop and grow and keep moving and improving. It is a failure to see that there are alot of things that are actually better than what it was before and embracing the goodness. This is an unhealthy state of mind as it doesn't allow you to appreciate your current life and the moment. You're not gnna be able to get these times again, life moves fast, so learn to grow and develop with it rather than being stuck in the past.

Trust me, things are actually better now for creativity than back then, you just need to be more creative...

NEVER GIVE UP, enjoy the experience and the ride no matter whether you make it or you don't. Do it cuz you enjoy doing these things...

Hey Waverider if you focus on learning as much as possible in the field you wish to become successful in and get really good, (you don't decide how good you are, what people are willing to pay for it is the deciding factor of skill level) the rest will fall into place so to speak. In my case it took me 8 years of sacrifice and hard work (no real income) to get to the point where people found my services worth paying for. I also realized that selling records (so to speak) is not where the money will come from in this business anymore. Mostly I get revenue from many income streams in small amounts, recording, mixing, composition, licensing original content, publishing and even sample packs, huge profit margin in samples especially if you mic up interesting things and process them to sound like drums. Once combined all these streams add up to a pretty good living. You just have to stay focused and treat it like a full time job! Meaning don't be lazy, don't call in sick :p and be confident enough to put your product out for sale. The people will tell you if it is good or not! If you don't succeed the first time, keep trying...If you give up than you weren't serious about "making it" to begin with....Best of luck !! Wish you great success!!

 

IMHO your approach goes totally in a wrong way;make music because you enjoy making music.
If you don't know yet how to produce and you're already thinking to sell your music,that means you don't like music enough.
If earning money with your music is your first concern I don't think you will be a good producer.
I don't say I know the solution,but I'm convinced that an artist need at least passion to hope any success,and nothing is sure.

Producing music is not like any other job,it's art.To make great art you need skills,talent,inspiration.So you need to love what you do.

 

Blaim the Fame it's no shame!
Just start producing djing or whatever play an instrument and if you like to make music
go for it
And dont forget to wipe the dollar signs out of your eyes
Im also a noob when it comes to producing full tracks
For me it is just a hobby i have planty of time to much actually.

Hi, I'd like to thank all of you for taking the time and for replying to this. I'm gonna read your replies a few more imes and let it sink in. The truth is, this is affecting me a bit too much emotionally, for various reasons. If I would truthfully respond to your messages and engage their points, it would not end well for me right now. So for now I'll not say anything else. Just know that I appreciate that you wrote those long posts and took the time to engage my concerns.
