What is the best sampler for drum kit creation (besides Kontakt)? I'm wondering if any of the freebies out there work well. I used to love iDrum before iZotope scrapped it . . . great for knocking out fast grooves with custom samples. Anything out there like that, but with the ability to do velocities and maybe even simple round robins?

Battery 4 is amazing. You can layer on a single pad, adjust anything from velocity, envelope, pitch, etc. I love the "vintage" settings for mpc and sp 1200 on it also.

Battery is nice but as you say drumkit creation I would buy Algonauts atlas sampler!!! Bought it didn’t reget it. Doesn’t replace battery as it’s more deep, but workflow wise it’s magic!

I like Ableton Live for anything drums related. I just use multiple tracks of Simpler per instrument, some filters and plugins and mix them until I like the sound. Can't beat the ease of use, workflow and freedom. I don't like drumkits. Haven't seen anything which comes close to just combining plain Ableton Simpler tracks AND the ease of use of Ableton.

I'm hopeful Sitala will work out. It won't have velocities, but it's easy to use . . . kind of like iDrum was. Still no Poise substitution out there.

Yeah, Live's Drum Rack is much sweeter to use than Logic's ugly options. Studio One has a nice MPC looking drum pad thingy, too.
