There should be an equivalent to the symlinks in Mac OS. Well, symlinks began with Unix OSs and since Mac OS is Unix compatible for several years now for sure there are supported.
Perhaps they'll do the trick.

 

Who in their right mind would put their samples on C:/?

I have a dual boot system running win and macos and I have an extra HDD formatted to ExFat containing all my samples and Libraries etc. This way they are removed from the sytem drive but can be accessed from both windows and macos.

Also, if you use software and plug-ins that are available for both platforms you can open the same project on a different os and it might just work fine (only works with vsts and aax)

I wouldn't mess with symlinks. If you are switching to mac you probably will format the windows drive at some point anyway so you might just over creating a proper folder structure on an extra harddisk.

 

firstly symlinks functionality is provided truth the hard-drive format(like NTFS on win and eat 3 or 4 on Linux) and secondary truth the os.... FAT and ExFat as I know don't support symlinks but my college use NTFS on mac with a special driver but I think it's read only but we use symlinks extensively for network drives in our data center and we have all 3 major os in our disposal ...

 

you got a change to resave the instrument patches ? If so ypu could just embedd the samples into tghe tal patches and resave

 

sudo mkdir -p "/C:/All Audio/"
Copy all files from Windows to this folder
sudo chown -R {your_username} "/C:/All Audio"

If the error message you posted is "reliable" then this could work

It does work in most cases, I'm doing this kind of stuff regularly because I'm using both Mac and Win.
The problem is that every app and every plugin has their own way of handling file and folder access so it's close to impossible to have a "one-click solution".
