Thanks for pointing this. Getting ready to order all the parts, fractal seems to cover all necessary fans and cooling no?

Also I want to roll with the asuz board mentioned. I think I read somewhere that I have to downgrade bios to make compatible for hackintosh, does anyone know if it's true?

Out of curiosity and Before I sink mad hours into it does anyone know if I can practice hackintosh install on a newer Dell 3670, or is that dumb? wouldn't be the main workstation at all but wanted to play with the I7 multicore in it to see if it's sufficient to order

Yeah, when i put together a new rig last year i went for the R6 (gunmetal grey, ah the details...) - it's very nice and i've no issues or regrets whatsoever!

£1000 - £1500 is more than enough, unless you plan to run 16 diva instances at the same time!

I'm also looking into building a new machine next month. Long time hackintosh user. This time I will try AMD cpus. Ryzen 2600 looks really good, and the AMD-OSX community is steadily growing. BTW anyone using a ryzen hackintosh build here?

Currently on my list: Ryzen 2600, RX 570, ASRock AB350, reuse my 16G ram sticks, reuse my 2x500G SSDs, reuse my 2x3T HDDs. Probably gonna upgrade to a 4k monitor too.

I noticed a movement of Ryzen users and guides available but aren't they having feature issues which could cause slower real-time processing? I found a lot of people mention getting more plugin instances and better efficiency despite weaker processors (ie then the imac pro) by maximizing real-time processing factors from components. I'm curious how the Ryzen fares being outside of the Mac hardware realm. Could be better for all I know!

This tooloud guy makes a lot of sense. Reminds me of myself. But louder.

Somehow I missed page 1 in this thread, so much helpful info. Thank you to the contrbuters!! To try and avoid tooloud's issues I was going to pick a specific guide for a build to follow exactly.. fingers crossed. Love this thread

Avoid toolouds issues by staying away from drugs and alcohol. And never listen to his advice, he uses a Mac.

If that is coming from the reincarnated Jedi spoken in Yoda like 3rd person the force is strong here. I'll definitely make it happen with the rebel hardware units.. bios is a slight concern, things do seem a bit quirky with what I've noticed so far like "if at first it didn't work, just do the exact same thing again and it might or might not happen again" but in my world I'm used to the non streamlined route so it will be fun with a very solid payoff

edit, I noticed some possible confusions in another thread and wanted to clarify on my end here just in case; the Jedi Yoda mention was me trying to pay homage to a great composer Tooloud, and I was trying to describe the difficult process of working on a PC system ie when I try to boot from clover drive in one instance it doesn't recognize but when I simply try to reboot without modifying anything it will work the second time. I was talking funny as a bad habit from corresponding with Superliquid Sunshine who was another fellow from the forum. Hope I didn't cause any confusion, stayed up a couple of nights trying to finalize some writing after spending a week getting my Mac to boot my sessions without crashing. I'll definitely be taking some time to make sure my thoughts are less scattered when re approaching threads!! Cheers

I just realized that that's more RAM in this machine than all machines combined in my company haha (I work at a tech startup).

Why this graphics card? Looks insanely old like from 2009. DO you already have it lying around or are you gonna purchase it? IDK but I think even the iGPU on the i5 might be more powerful than GT130.

Otherwise it looks great, i5-9600K might be in my next build too because Ryzen is ruled out. Don't know if it's necessary to upgrade to i7-9700k though

OS wise I think you are all set for Hackintosh.

its enough for audio workstation...but not in need when having good intel cpu...
we use this cards cause they have low profile and dont use fans on card , so them are silent
also overdrive gpu could produce to much heat for nothing you need

i would purchase an i7 , ram i would expand later
it depends if you kontakt user or synthese guy....kontakt need ram...synthese cpu..

noctuas are with the best cpu fans.....when not the best cpu fans

I use both ! Romplers and synths but mostly synth guy. Why an i7 instead of the i5-9600K ? Been told its maybe 20% more efficient than the i5 one. Will it matter much ?

    Ok @wasgedn

If i get the i7 i wouldnt need the videocard at all right? + 20% better performance? I think this make sense. Or i will just keep it like this and remove gpu or implement twin froz
