    Hey guys,
Im searching for a VST that can help me position my sound in the stereo field. I started experimentating with the panning of my sounds, but always using the synth or drum two times to pan it left and right, and contriól it via envelopes is complex,CPU heavy and offers limited options.
So I would like a VST plugin that will help me position my sound in the stereo field. Maybe that I can double the sound with the vst and pan it in different directions, or that I can change the width of a sound...

    Any ideas?

You can control the wideness of 4 different band of frequency + you have a tool that tel you when you go TOO wide !

Wave Arts Panorama (included w/ Wave Arts PowerSuite 5)

Panorama is a specialized tool for creating stunningly realistic 3-D audio scenes using regular stereo sound.
The DSP technology in Panorama reproduces psychoacoustic sound localization and distance cues, allowing
you to pan sounds in three dimensions: not just left and right, but up, down, front, back, near, and far.
Panorama combines HRTF-based audio panning with acoustic environment modeling, including wall reflections,
reverberation, distance modeling, and the Doppler pitch effect. Panorama sounds amazing when heard on headphones.
Anyone producing podcasts or music specifically intended for mobile devices should definitely check out Panorama.
Panorama also includes a crosstalk canceller to format the output for playback over conventional stereo loudspeakers.
In this mode, Panorama can make sounds appear to come from outside the normal stereo soundstage.

There are 'liberated' versions available for 'demonstration' purposes
Search for 'Wave Arts' on the sister site

    Liberated versions, he?
I remember mrtzcmp3.net let you know that you have to delete the MP3s after 24 hours of demonstration... I wonder how many people do that?

have you tried UpStereo from QuikQuak ?

this is what i use - Free too

    slider middle = normal stereo
go slider right to widen and position the L-R directive
also takes a mono source (ex: mic) and fakes a stereo effect

    win vst & osx au-vst

    get it here -> UpStereo

    @Someone

Maybe you could give this a try. It's FREE.

"Proximity is a collaborative effort by Tokyo Dawn Labs and vladg/sound and prize winner of KVR’s Developer Contest 2012".

The plug-in is an easy to use distance “pan-pot” based on several psycho-acoustic models. The idea is to give mixing engineer a reliable tool which allows him to manipulate the “depth” of several sound source in a straight forward and convincing manner.

Several models can be combined to taste:
Distance signal delay by speed of sound
    Distance gain loss
    Absorption of high-frequencies in air
    Stereo width manipulation
    Proximity effect of virtual microphone
    Distance based early reflections
Distance modulation options extend the creative possibilities even further. Units can be switched from metric (meters) to imperial (inches).

Proximity is not per se a stereo or pan plugin but you cand definitely create stereo wonders if you want (and experiment a bit with it)

May the force be with u

You can do a crazy amount of stereo effects and instrument placement effects using things you already have in your DAW. For example you can use delayed reverbs to create cool effects that will take your instruments back and forth. If you use ableton live you can create a multiband stereo imager to narrow low frequencies and spread higher frequencies. You can duplicate intruments, pan the duplicated far left and far right and then high pass one, low pass the other, put a reverb on one and leave the other dry and you'll get some seriously awesome panning effects with that. There's a whole ton of ways you creatively place things around the stereo field without special plugins.

the coolest vst i have for creating cool stereo sounds is the Multiband Delay VST Plug-In from
    Melda Productions

you can route to mid/side or L/R or surround etc etc

    makes some really cool effects
