I’m not pointing fingers at anyone in particular. Those who get very angry at me and start throwing childish insults are doing so out of guilt and shame. They are the ones with a very stressful internal conflict: they want to be respected but don’t have the moral or intellectual strength to earn that respect - so they choose the easy way out: blame the messenger, deny and hate!

None of that changes a thing, though. Soon they are back to their aimless existence, toiling in darkness, waiting for the next little stolen item to put in their coffer of shame, hoping for a miracle to save them from their own weakness. They are being damaged beyond repair, one bit of their soul at a time. R2R is not only stealing from developers, they are also taking light from weak people’s lives. All for a bit of money.

That is one way to look at it, and true for what it is worth, but how much is it worth?
The worth of everything is relative and must be taken in context.
What is the context of the theft?
Private hobby? Selling?
Relative in relation to what else?
How much damage might be done to a person's integrity... further moral judgments ... feelings of true self-respect ... effect on actions..
Those are all complicated things that a judgment by principle simplifies but does not really measure.
It is something that must be judged by the individual, although I do believe in the aggregate can be said to be a negative effect overall.

But your tone of moralizing and warnings will likely have no good effect and more likely the negative effect of increasing defensiveness and/or denial.
Those who claim the moral high-ground, rightly or not, might reach down to lend a hand so that others might be lifted, not step on them.

In all your anger and shame, you're not thinking before you're posting.

Name people you're accusing and be honest about why you're so angry. What software did you work on that got cracked? I don't see how you can't be anything else but a dev. Possibly a very pathetic troll, but I'm sticking with a dev that had his work cracked.

Keep telling yourself you're making others angry and feel shame. It's pretty obvious you're not, but if it helps you then keep telling yourself that lol.

 

I’m very glad you understand the message and acknowledge that there is defensiveness and denial that can be increased by my words. I’m aware of that.

My message, though, is the helping hand that offers a lift from the darkness of living in shame for no benefit: great music can be easily made without spending a fortune or stealing.

Mine is not a position of high moral ground. I’m just informing people that there is a cheaper, better alternative around the corner. Do yo really *need* to steal? Are you capable of making music without stealing? You might be surprised at how easy it is if you just spend your energy on music and learning the tools you can legitimate get, instead of becoming a pawn in R2R’s money-making game.

Look, I don't know enough about this scene to make an actual comment on this and get involved in this discussion. I personally don't believe they greed for money or try to clickbait. My post, however, was about the fact that this thread started with complaining that R2R releases have dried up, and that while it has turned into an emotional debate about closely or remotely connected issues in the meantime, the original issue of the thread OP has resolved itself. That is funny

but i kno the other site too...giving 2-3 devs the dmca act text in pm so they could let it take down...
you must choose wisely...but also one dev meant i guess only 2 dl's i had were the guys which warezed it ...
