Sandboxing VSTs since Ableton has crashed one too many times because of one plugin.

Being faster and slimmer: Bitwig loads up much faster than Ableton and beastly plugins like Omnisphere loads up patches muuuch faster than on Ableton.

It's definitely a step in the right direction and automation curves, freezing side-chain tracks, and VST3 support should have been in Live10 from the start.

i have wondering since the beginning why you couldnt freeze SCed channels? it made really no sense to me.

VST3 was long overdue(was requested in ableton suggestions in summer 2013!!!), and i will miss Ping pong delay and simple delay. i liked using both separate.
so you smash to separate devices together and call it a new device? why?! how about a legit LFO device?! but instead we have to use the M4L one?!

we need a convolution reverb - native device. and a damn shortcut to freeze & flattern.

the automation stuff is awsome, looking forward to this.

Yeah me too that's why i'll keep them separate as i did with Live 9 Utility and Live 8 Compressor. Yes I still have Live 8 compressor and yes i regularly use it. I take care of it like it's my old granny.

    I'm dreaming...

I'm dreaming of Ableton developers who are going mad to implement an automation draw technique like in cableguys ShaperBox.

Does anyone have a link to the beta installer? Obviously it's still protected and not cracked, but I need to analyze changes to the control scripts to ensure some python scripts I've developed still work.

    ---

Edit: Nevermind, I got the beta. Thanks!

It's so funny to see friends in class who go apeshit over this beta update, when other DAWs that I use have had this for years already.
I'm glad to see everyone catching up. Eventually we'll hopefully see DAWs getting more and more similar to each other, and that we one day have a universal format (project) that can be opened by any DAW (that we choose to work with). Collab galore.

    came natural with VST3.

i think you can save the old devices in channel file and then important them whenever you want them, because they are still in the code.
i think i did that back in v9

Classmates, are you in one of those fancy dj schools for people who need to be carefully taken by the hands to learn music ?

Not just that. According to the patch notes, vst3 plugins with gain/output and mix parameters will show those parameters on the device view by default. Im really glad to see Ableton taking steps to make Live a little more friendly to 3rd party devices. Even if its little by little.

Who knows, maybe one day they'll even let us map and organize parameter banks on push and push2 in a way that makes some damn sense

Whoa buddy lets not get crazy

Seriously tho i kinda doubt it. It's not like they really need to divert a lot of manpower to code a few more colors into their arbitrarily limited sorting system.

Its frankly pretty useless to me as it is, and i could REALLY use the organizational flexibility if they'd just make it a little less restrictive

Or make it folders and let us make subfolders. Like wtf. I spent a while bitching on the beta forums about this but i guess this one theyre set on.

At least they've shown the ability to be flexible. Lots of people didnt like the new automation display and they kind of made it a hybrid of new and old

Yeah I'm actually surprised they listened to the community so much, I was going through the requests in the centercode just yesterday and a large portion of the new features was requested by people, like the ability to export single tracks with sends and master fx on, importing custom wts to ableton wavetable synth, freeze sidechained tracks, VST3, etc.
So hopefully the next big update will introduce folders and subfolders in the collections, who knows. I also heard a while ago they're working on comping for recording, which is pretty essential for those who record everyday.
