Since there has been a lot of talk about Roland's 808 and 909 I thought it would be a good idea to create this thread in which we can share presets as well as links to sites, and videos, containing patterns and history on these two iconic drum machines.

This the best drum machine library for patterns of the Roland TR-808, TR-08 or TR-8/TR-8S. You can join for free and publish your own 808 drum patterns.

Edit: All the patterns from the site, as well as those on the videos, can be manually entered on any plugin which layout imitates that of the 808 and 909. For example, the Roland TR 808 and TR 909, the D16 Group Drumazone, etc.

I have to say I'm a fan of personal creativity, although there's nothing bad in learning a few tricks here and there by recreating these patterns. It is fun, too!

 

You are right. Fun and useful too, sometimes we learn more than we thought possible by just looking at some of these videos and patterns

 

Is there any plugin compatible with these patterns format? Or are they usable with hardware only?

 

I haven't seen any download options...Am i blind?

I plan to upload some of the presets I have created using these patterns. That is one of the main ideas and goal behind this thread.

 

or use fl studio pattern seq...in general this is adoptable to all pattern seq's

This is awesome, not only am I impressed by the content but also by the whole feel of the site.

Now, if you could do exactly the same for 303, then I would be seriously impressed. I have seen a few sites showing off 303 patterns, but in all honestly they suck.

 

I owned 303, and in all seriousness I can tell you that thing is hard to program, but that's part of its charm and happy accidents happen with it all the time. It's kinda like a toy, and a creativity booster. I loved those happy accidents that led to something cool sounding. Sometimes you just don't want to be in control 100%.

Having said that, I was never really a fan of its sound. That's why I sold it and never regretted it.

I have to agree and I think that this is a great thread and hope that it produces some nice results.

 

Im glad that a lot of you think that this thread is a good idea, I will do my best to keep it going with new material.

 

808 The Movie is a must see for everyone interested in learning the history of the 808. I believe it was available at sister site. Here is the Phil Collins interview.
