I’m starting this thread after watching yet another my DAW is better than your DAW pecker contest. In it I noticed some complete rubbish and ill-informed tripe about Cubase. https://audiosex.pro/threads/which-daw-do-you-recommend.42876/

Ok let’s get it out there, I’m a Cubase user, have been for some time, tried Ableton and FL studio but didn’t suit my work flow. I am not here to say Cubase is perfect, in fact I would recommend if you ever did buy a copy of Cubase don’t buy the .0 release buy the .5, which comes out the year after as they are always way more stable and rounded. I’m currently struggling with a not quite finished Version 10 but because the Cubase dongle allows me to use any previous version I can always fall back to v 9.5 should it be required.

Getting back to the point, for some reason it seems a popular sport to have a bash at Steinberg, much like Microsoft or any other major industry leader, perhaps it’s the support the wee guy mentality but really some of the nonsense that is spouted as fact, is just complete shit. Rudy I’m taking to you here calling Cubase, Cubasrse it’s just not funny. As for the ridiculous nonsense about the blacklister checking for Warez products that is so much shit. The blacklister is there so if you have a problem with a 3rd party plugin you can still open the project without it crashing, an idea may other DAW manufactures have since followed. You can still re-enable the plugin once inside Cubase if you want to run the risk of the plugin crashing your project.

I would like to draw your attention to this other thread. https://audiosex.pro/threads/best-daw.38185/ now consider that Cubase has not been cracked in sometime, long enough that the current version bears little resemblance to the cracked version and that 16.5% of people indicated they use and love Cubase which they must have paid a considerable amount of cash for, on a poll in a forum allied to a major Warez site. The only DAW to beat it was the ultimate winner, Studio One, which is cracked on a regular basis. So, the “perceived” expression of brand loyalty may not be, dare I say entirely legitimate in this “particular” poll….

Before I produce lots of flaming emails telling me how brilliant Studio One is let me just say I’m not knocking it at all, its come-on leaps and bound over the last few years, to the point that Steinberg are sitting up and listening, and that’s no bad thing, but I really don’t think it would have so much support on this forum if it was not available like it is and that R2R also make available nice things like Melodyne, otherwise Studio One would have no pitch editing tool, unlike Cubase. As for Reaper, I simply don’t know enough about it to make an informed comment so unlike many I’m just going to keep my gob shut.

The point I’m trying to make is Cubase does not deserve the regular basing it gets. It’s a well-rounded mature DAW that’s had its ups and downs, the Pinnacle years where particularly bad, but since Yamaha took the helm things have picked up considerably. I would very much like to hope that the bashers don’t carry that ethos further into their lives as religious or racial intolerance so why give someone who wants to run a different DAW to you a hard time, by denigrating and spouting myths about something you know nothing about?

I have no doubt I’m going to get some flak for this, so go on, but people keep it based in fact and don’t resort to name calling please. Sorry rant over, let the flaming begin.

The more interesting question is, why do you care? Does this make your Cubase work worse somehow? Shouldn't you be glad instead, because the more people who avoid Cubase (which obviously is the best DAW in your opinion), the less competition you have?

Do you work for Steinberg and now are frustrated because of the Brexit? Maybe you still get an independence referendum... Let's hope.

Its anger, frustration and in some cases jealousy. Some legit bashing from former users but mostly just ignorant hate because it wasnt cracked.

    you really think so?
but what makes someone feel their daw needs to be "defended"?! lol.

if i saw the name of my daw being trashed and presented as satan on earth! most probably I would add a comment saying "yeah I agree its totally satanic, death to its users!!" or something like that,

    at the most. :)

    Hi,
if you're referring to one of my posts, I was only speaking about C5 (like OP) and I never found a menu entry to reactivate blacklisted plugins. Did I miss something?

Why do I care, I don’t really, I just don’t like bashing stuff for the sake of it, because it may be "popular" to do so...Sorry

Like Olaf, refers to I've had my fill of Brexit and Independence debates recently and a lot of the shite that gets spouted on social media by both sides, well it’s just rubbish... I try to retreat to my sanctuary of sanity which is audiotech and find more bullshit about my DAW of choice. Sorry Rudy don’t wish pick on you, but I've seen many posts where Steinberg gets a bashing for no reason what so ever. Ok so was in a bad mood this morning and went on a bit of a monolog but at least its factual. I really don’t believe anywhere that I say Cubase is perfect, its not and I’ve had equally good rants on their forum. Studio One is a fantastic DAW as is Ableton and Bitwig, fuc* it them all, (except maybe if it was made by Crysonic)

I just would appreciate if you didn’t call it Cubarse and perpetuate myths about the plugin manager. Ok call me "sensitive" then, but maybe if the world was a bit more sensitive to other folk it would be a better place.

I’m also not referring to anyone unless referred to by name.

I agree. I use Pro Tools because I kind of know my way around with it. In my day you didn't compare DAWs (yes I'm 63) but guitars, and in the end all that mattered was how "good" you were rock 'n roll-wise. Of course you had Fender buffs, or Gibson or Gretsch fans but you considered brands personal. As with cigarettes in that sense, although I don't smoke. Same with DAWs in my view. Use what you like and are proficient at.

Well, i hate Steinberg.. i hate how they handle support, i hate how they force the users to act like beta testers with every upgrade, i hate how ignorant they are totally ignoring some vital points made out by their fan base, How they continue to have some really good plugins that will never be anything more since they cant even have sound clips on their site for the expansions etc..

Damn there are so much stuff i hate about them.. and at the same time i just cant stop using my beloved Cubase.. it never fails to suprise me with its simplicity in all its logic. Maybe thats why i hate them so much.. cause i could have done other things in life than make music..

@techdevil its a good thing that you point out all thees things.. it actually bothers me that people get the wrong info when people write stuff they dont know anything about.. Comparing wrong versions etc.. Running S1 and PT side by side with Cubase but i cant go around bashing either of them cause they do the job.. Once in while if im bored i just like to poke the Reaper gang a little cause they are just funny to poke.. i mean cmon.. these guy have all the latest version of all DAW's out there and still they use Reaper so it must be a hell of a DAW..
