Steinberg asking $2,799 for this is surely why it will flop. No one looking in that range would choose their tb2 interface over this tb3 interface: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...sal_audio_apx8p_apollo_x8p_thunderbolt_3.html

The apollo has a dynamic range of 129 dBA on the main outs among several other things that make it better. Steinberg's AXR4 has 117 dBA on the main outs. Even the Presonus Quantum has a dynamic range of 118 dBA, and is only $999: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1331986-REG/presonus_quantum_26x32_thunderbolt_2.html

You could even buy a Quantum 4848 for $1,499 in addition to the Quantum, which also includes legit Studio One 4 Pro: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1432682-REG/presonus_quantum_4848_48x48_line_level_and.html

..and all together it would still be $300 cheaper than Steinberg's AXR4 alone in the woods. They've got to be crazy.

Numbers on paper are a whole different thing vs reality.
I know some manufactures who claim a large dynamic range of around 120db yet were left in the dust by interfaces with smaller dynamic range.
Steinberg has always been shy with the dynamic range, i would say more honest vs the competition.
The MR series has a dynamic range of 106db if not mistaken, yet those converters can compete with units a lot more expensive.

Its 119dB, A-Weighted For Input and Output

Btw UAD Apollo Is Not 129 try reading here https://uadforum.com/apollo-arrow-i...-difference-between-old-new-apollo-units.html

On a positive note the integration of 32bit I/O will make other manufactures re-think so it's good for business in the end for all of us except the narcissistic ones but nothing will help them.

Of course I've heard of adat, but when I look at an Audio interface, I need to know how much analog input it's able to handle alone.
I usually need a minimum of 8 analog inputs for my hardware to be used on the fly, without having to unplug and plug.
I don't want to think about buying another rack of converters.

What it makes interesting this interface is its preamps,we have to wait after users feedback.

You are looking at the input specs for the AXR4. Scroll down to the "Output" specs on the same link you posted and you'll see the monitor (main) outs are 117dBA as I stated in my post.

And the link you threw up about Apollo interfaces was in regard to the "Arrow" series interfaces.. not the "X" series (product I posted). To top it off you used a link to an old post a forum user made in 2015 (3 years before Apollo X even existed) rather than Apollo's specs from their site.

This is the product I listed in my post (because same price range as this Steinberg AXR4, it's tb3, and it's a better interface, period. Also 16 UAD plugins included with it for gift sake): https://www.uaudio.com/audio-interfaces/apollo-x8p.html

You said, "Not 129". Look in: Features > Interface Specifications > D to A Conversion > and check the dynamic range for the monitor (main) outs. If you don't see "129".. I don't know what else to tell you.

Why did you reply to my post just for the sake of trying to refute what I posted anyway? Your info wasn't only wrong.. but it's in bad taste to take that approach to begin with. People shouldn't have to reiterate themselves and play defense as a follow up to every post they make in this forum.
