Yes thanks I found it I read another article that said that even thought it's not available any more it still is. LOL.
I just upgraded a test copy of my win 7 X64 and looking for the FLS slot patch. Even though I have not had any issues with VSTs it would be nice to have it.

Ha! That's clever. I always set up my systems like that, for obviously practical reasons, too. C is an SSD with the OS and frequently used sample libraries. D is a HDD with "data", which means all audio related and other stuff, and E is another HDD, used for archiving stuff, OS backup, and less frequently used sample libraries. It always made sense to me.

So I just let the computer boot from the flash drive with Clonezilla, and backup C to E whenever I feel the need for it. Cause you never know... things happen, even when not connected to the Internet. And who the hell wants to install Windows with all the hundreds of plugins every year or so?! I tend to be a masochist sometimes, but not with Windows. When I install it, I like it to last for years and years to come.

10 has some weird bugs here and there, the GUI is unfinished (still parts from 7 and DOS in places; start menu is worse than 7s, you have to search for a lot of things instead of having direct access to them; the store is all fucked up), performance isn't noticebly better but it's more resilient, hardware support (how easy hardware is installed, not needing as many reboots for drivers) is better than 7s. The worst part like everyone says is updates. Microsoft completely fucked up Windows update. You can Google how many problems people are having because they were foolish enough to allow auto updates. Even manual updates are broken, just this week an update for NET was mistakenly released and trashed a bunch of people's computers who manually updated. Windows 10 does this thing where certain updates reset your settings or clandestinely swaps your drivers back to Microsoft ones or the wrong versions, this sometimes causes PCs not to even boot into Windows anymore. Like I said, MS completely fucked up Windows update, it's a horrible system now where you gamble every time you use it. It will be fixed eventually I assume.

Get Enterprise or LTSC if you can, disable updates, don't think about feature updates until 2020 when the next major Windows version comes out, block Microsoft's servers, disable Defender and Cortana, use group policy or a third party util to stop all the spying and tweak the annoyances. There's a lot more background services in 10 to disable compared to 7 too. Lastly, do not set Windows up with a Microsoft ID, which guarantees you'll be tracked and spammed (MS puts ads in the start menu now and downloads Candy Crush at random times for gullible people who sign in to MS), install it with a local account. If you really want a Microsoft ID make a second user account for it later.

Hmm not so sure about Win 10, I'm still struggling with setting it up to work how I want it, I have a Boss GT 1 that refuses to talk to the computer, and various connection issues. So decided to reinstall with all the default settings and set it up with my outboard stuff, then take all the mods off one by one... or maybe just install win 7.... about to drink on it.Lol
