Steinberg’s new audio interface, the AXR4T, is a result of the joint co-operation between Yamaha, Steinberg and Rupert Neve Designs which sets a new standard in professional audio devices. Featuring Thunderbolt 2, the AXR4T provides a total of 28 input and 24 outputs, a 28x24 matrix DSP mixer and comprehensive connectivity. Featuring hybrid mic preamps with Rupert Neve Designs SILK processing, 32-bit integer recording/playback, sample rate up to 384 kHz, ultra-low latency and jitter reduction technology, the AXR4 delivers outstanding, natural analog sound for the most modern recording environments.

    Not Windows compatible? Soooo...this isn't a joke?

Edit: It would take A LOT more to convince me to ditch RME.

And I was saving for a similar RME UFX+ with both USB and Thunderbolt, can take up to 94ins and 94outs and there's not even one type of connectivity that it wouldn't support, with even more improved already great and acclaimed ADDA converters compared to its previous UFX II brother, best low latency "Hammer fall" drivers for both Mac and Windows for 2400 euro.

This new similar interface from Steinberg still didn't convince me, it just offers less for more money. RME is the kind of audio interface/wordclocks/converters manufacturer from which you just buy and forget without regrets nor weak bang for buck.

Is this one of those FPGA-type interfaces with onboard fx?
Kind of funny that this tech is been around for ages/decades, yet couple of years the manufucks realized that these can be used other purposes like FXs and not only routing

At the rear, there are 8 inputs, which probably font sum to the 4 on the front. So there would be 8 analog inputs... Limited compatibility...
No thanks... Not for that price. I would stick to RME instead.

But it has Rupert Neve's signature right there on the front, it must be ____________!

It's all good,, I own Apple stock, buy a Mac and one of these, I could use the dividend money.

They say 32 bit integer AD/DA conversion (!?!?!?!)
    >>> "Bit Depth Up to 32-Bit (AD/DA Conversion)"
    >>> "This interface itself is capable of capturing audio at sample rates and resolutions of up to 384 kHz / 32-bit, enabling a highly-detailed reproduction of transients as well as an increase in headroom over 24-bit converters."

IF (and a big IF) this is true, it would means that no mic preamps are needed.
If this is true, that's really new.

It seems utterly crazy that it is currently only for Mac and not for Windows, and that it is Thunderbolt 2 and not Thunderbolt 3.

Lot of questions, and it seems not serious...

I never use 192 kHz even if I can. I only use 48 kHz, but I guess there will always be some sound geek that "hear" the difference. Wonder how big a 4 minute file gonna be in 384 kHz

The important thing there is not really 384 kHz, but 32 bit integer ; because this 32 bit integer AD/DA means that mic preamps are no more needed for recording and you could have the pure unaltered sound of the mics, if wanted, without mic preamps "alterations".
