Does anyone still use the URS channel strip? It's 64 bit and has a crispy feel with all the classic console emulations and rivals UAD imo.

From my limited experimentation, I liked adding some Nebula Neve & API flavor to the sounds on the way in, to beef them up a bit, and then a light touch of the bx SSL E & G consoles EQ/Dynamics (the TMT & THD sounds good to my ears). Finally I placed Airwindows PurestConsole on the master bus for a bit of pixie dust. Unfortunately my demos ran out, but the sound seemed to be going in a good direction. I was trying to follow the old studio adage of 'track on Neve/mix on SSL'.

The new-ish Flux Evo channel strip is an interesting choice, with some useful phase rotation features per channel, a visual + parametric flux EQ and a selection of compression modes. The compressor is no-nonsense, get shit done type of deal, three knobs and a dropdown box to let it know what you're processing if you want ("vocal", "drums", etc). There's a nice saturation/drive stage and mystery-meat "touch" stage as well which contains handy transient manipulation on tap and two different de-essers to pick from. The GUI is better than their older stuff (their old stuff still sounds good to me), and the sound is similar. I like it for being light compared to Acustica offerings and sounding smooth in a clinical Flux type of way.

The question is, do you want a channel strip emulation or not. Sometimes I'm perplexed by the return to the sixties obsession. Not that I think it's a bad direction, but it seems almost everybody pushes emulations at the expense of innovating. The only companies that springs to mind who buck the trend are brainworx and Fabfilter. Great products never claiming to be an accurate SSL or Neve.

Personally I use the bx consoles E,G,N on my tracks,
But for those tracks which are more important to me i use Uad Neve 1073 preamp and EQ collection, LA-2A Collection(version depending to the track), 1176 (to get the picks), Pultec passive eq(doing fantastic job on low and high-end), Oxide Tape(I would like to use Studer BUT I don’t have it!), then if I need any gate or expander I prefer to use the bx console, as they are powerful with nice features!
Fabfilters are really good stuff as well.

    Best regards,

At my first try I found the new Flux channel strip cool but after few tracks I noticed that its dynamics' section has a strange attack,on some sounds I hear a "pop" on the transients.I couldn't attenuate it with the expander.
Finally I removed it and on this same track I put a bx-SSLE and this horrible "pop" disappeared as if by magic.
And with the brainworx SSLE the sounds becomes a kind of "roundness","warm" that I love. With digital synthesizers it's really nice,I didn't find this feeling with the others plugins.

But the phase rotator feature on the Flux is very nice.
So now sometimes I use the Flux EVOin, which is simply the phase rotator, when I need any tweak on any track's phase.

I love the VCS-1 but I really take for granted the readability of the SSL. It's a trivial pet peeve but I'm fumbling at different knobs (especially at the EQ section) much longer on this than on my other strips lol, give me full-colored knobs, please. :)
