Where do you store Kontakt libraries?
    Do you use cloud services?

I tried to backup some of my libraries onto Google Drive via their software but bigger files from libraries that are usually 1-2GB cant be uploaded, it always breaks at some point and uploading goes from start again.

I was checking Mega which offers 50gb for free, but I am not sure to use it, or just hold libraries on pc, until it last...

Why not just save on an external or some other device? It's not that large.

Yeah, its way more than 50gb, but I thought to use multiple accounts.

And i checked their uploader can continue uploading one file which is great advantage for my low uploading net.

Or, just not to do it at all...

I don't know where you are from (Greece maybe?) or your financial situation, but 2TB external drives are not expensive in most countries, just grab one of those.

If you know how to setup Linux yourself, buy a used PC for $80 from ebay, put in a big HDD and place it somewhere where it doesn't bothers you and connect it by LAN. Get a second, external HDD for it.

Setup FreeFileSync on your PC to copy everything new to the Linux Server every 30 minutes.

Use a TimeMachine script on the Linux server to store copies every 30 minutes to the external HDD.

Setup the Linux server so your PC has only READONLY access to the external HDD.

This is the perfect backup solution. There is no known Virus to mankind which can break this setup. Even if disaster strikes and your whole system gets encrypted, it can't break your external HDD backup. Worst which could happen is that you lose ONE hour of work.

And you have TimeMachine copies of everything you do in 30 minutes increments. So if anything goes wrong, just get your files from 30 minutes ago from the TimeMachine backup and go on from there.

The best way to backup thera bytes is using A Blu Ray Burner 25 Gb each with a cost of 15 cents a Blue ray burner cost around $100 but can burn at least 2,000 disc. that and why to add a cost of 5-10 cents more. I mean 20-25 cents for each blue ray disc burned.

Forget cloud. Grab a good old 4TB hard drive and put it in a USB 3.0 enclosure. I got mine for $60. It'll be cheaper than a year of 100GB in cloud. Besides, one of the important points of backup is that you have it ready to go whenever something goes bad - without waiting several days for hundreds of GBs to download :)

why would you store anything important somewhere you know nothing about actual location and no guarantee of access?
forget about online storage solutions, buy external drive(s) or NAS

Where do you buy your BD at 15 cents aka 0,15 € ? I'd be interested. Because ... =>

    ____________________________________________________________

Burning is not the best neither the cheaper anymore.
As Daz and tzzsmk wrote : an external HDD is the solution.
It's 2 times less than the average BD discs prices of 15 € / 18 € for a 10 pack of Verbatim 43742 BD-R Single Layer 6x 25 Go Hard Coat / MABL (if you really want to put your data in safety, this is the one). Not counting the burner, the errors (it happens) and time (one hour, with data check, and ImgBurn).
The Toshiba HDTB420EK3AA HDD Portable 2,5" 2 To USB 3.0 is now at around 70 €. (Get your HDDs NEW! )
    Make the calculation.
So you buy 2 HDDs, because, yes they can fail also. Still more efficient.

Also, of course, data can be erased on an HDD. I have (many!) 10s of BD full of useless data in 2019.... :suicide:
The access can also be easily password protected and sync live written.

I'm enduring this as well... My main vi drive had some hardware breakdowns and while backing that up I screwed up another drive which had a partition for my clone backup and some vi libs. Luckily salvaged most of the dope stuff but sustained heavy losses... I've always known partitions we're a bad idea from past misshaps but it wasn't until I cleaned it with disc warrior that it exploded... It's so jacked up I can't even reformat it somehow ha

How easy is this to set up? And what are requirements? I have an onld PC with a Core 2 Quad Q6600 and 4GB RAM in it, but it's all in a huge case with about 11 drive bays!

You need to know your way around with Linux, as you need to setup a Linux Samba file server and a Timemachine backup script. Nothing further required. Your hardware is perfectly fine, you could probably even run this setup on a Raspberry.

Use something like this https://github.com/cytopia/linux-timemachine for the Timemachine backup. I would recommend to use Debian Linux. If you have never worked with Linux and Samba it can take some time to learn your way around, but check out Youtube, there should be plenty of tutorials about Debian & Samba.

Use FreeFileSync (it's free) on your PC to backup everything you need to the Linux Samba Server.
And use Timemachine Script to backup everything from Linux Samba Server to an external disk.
Setup both to run as CronJobs every 30 minutes.

Give your PC read/write access to the Linux Samba Server.
Give your PC read only access to the external hdd.

    Done.

Well, it WILL take some time to learn Linux/Samba if you don't know them. But it's pretty much all just very common stuff which should be well documented all over the web.
