I have searched my Windows & ProgramData folders for the various font extensions (including Linux types) but it is your system that needs the search because i am not having the problem... BUT ... if those "fonts" (or some resource mistaken as fonts) are handled by some program you have (either the plugins or some other program the plugins are looking at) there may be no extension to search for.

I would guess that is the case. (from a page i was referencing for font file types: ** Some applications may handle fonts themselves instead of using the operating system. In this case font files may be stored in folders elsewhere on the file system.)

So, searching the whole disk (mainly Windows, Program Files, Program Files (x86) , ProgramData & Users folders) might be needed, BUT may still not show any result.

I was looking through the ProgramData\Loopmasters\Khords folder for a clue, and thought I found something..because i found a folder "...\node_modules\starwars-names\"...
But I dunno...the text in there says: "Get random names from Star Wars characters.
" so that seems to be some other funny thing.

One other thing though. On sister site you mentioned that stopping font service fixed it (at least temporarily). Is that true? If so, it's obviously using windows font service as opposed to some internal thing.
I thought maybe it was accessing some resource inside its own package (the .blob file?).

At first I thought he had over-written some system fonts with some "metal band wingding font" found on DaFont or something. Something similar happened to me when I accidentally overwrote Arial font with some shitty retro-looking digital font. It was a mess (in browsers and everywhere). So I kinda feel his pain.

i did that maizelman and didnt work, i did stop the win font cache service then deleted the FNTCACHE.DAT, loaded live and khords and was back to normal, when i rebooted the pc it was back to strange fonts, i looked through the fonts and cant see any that is the same as in khords and levels, i have a yahoo font but no starwars, i give up now,

 

Almost sounds like your font cache gets messed up again at startup, maybe you installed some bad drivers recently? Have you tried making the fntcache write protected as a workaround? There are some more files in the <Service Profiles> you could try. Good luck!

 

well the funny thing is bassmaster is from loopmasters and the font is correct, khords is from loopmasters and strange fonts and levels from mastering the mix strange fonts, so 2 plugins from different devs with same behaviour, at this point i have tried everything and not solved it, so i can live with levels the way it is, i did install version 10 from VR and its fine, reinstalled version 11 and not fine, so this one has me beat,

 

well i went through the windows font and searched 1 letter at a time, deleted anything that looked like a symbol, found a few and now when i load khords and levels it displays a font which i can read so its better than before

Wow! But which "Windows font" was it? There are many Windows fonts... I am confused!

 

i cant remember the names, i just deleted what i thought was not good to have, so now i have to work out how to replace the default win 10 fonts, i had a backup after installing win 10 with just the os and nothing more, so how do i delete the fonts i have and replace them, im guessing if you try and delete a system font windows wont let you, so i could just select them all and hit remove and see what i have left matches the fonts i got on a backup, but at least i can see the presets now, i think i installed a few 3rd party fonts and now i need to remove them

 

i read on google that if you try and remove a system font that win 10 protects you cannot, so my thought is select all and delete and i should have the basic default fonts, i know some programs install there own fonts to funtion so ill have to be carefull,

 

Or you could just try moving the fonts (wingdings) to another folder.

 

Well, all sounds good and i like Baxter's idea of moving the fonts in case you want them later.
I'm guess the key is what you realized : that you installed some other fonts... the VSTs were accessing them ...
So maybe some identification for some 3rd party fonts was improper or something.
