the coloring is NECESSARY for making sound come from a particular direction convincingly. See https://www.brucewiggins.co.uk/Pics/AmbBinGifs/ICSA_Wiggins_Gifs.html . If you lose the coloring, you lose the directionality. If you don't want coloring, but want direction, you need to mix in physical surround.

No, because anything you do afterwards is likely to screw up the imaging.

Because it isn't used for stereo mixing. It's used mainly for binaral/HRTF , and ambisonics (4ch +).

Have you tried reading the manual?

Btw ambisonics again, is different to binaural, which is also different to surround.

Don't run before you walk. It seems you don't fully understand what you're doing.

Plugins like these do an incredibly complex set of DSP but condense it to a few sliders, and you're asking questions you shouldn't. Get a good grip on mixing conventional stereo BEFORE you use this fancy binaural stuff, and when you do, make sure you UNDERSTAND articles like these https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head-related_transfer_function

Spat revolution is a standalone DAW. It offers plugins to CONNECT with your DAW. Therefore, the plugins are meaningless if you don't have the standalone Spat revolution DAW. It's similar to rewire, in a sense.

So what you are saying is there is no easier way to place sounds in a Stereo mix? Did you read my first post? I have already said that DearVR Pro has a Stereo OUTPUT format so I don't understand what you mean this technique is not applicable to Stereo mixes? It is already shown that it is!
Whatever I say, somebody says, binaural, HRTF and blah blah. No. I don't want to do Binaural mix. I don't want to do Surround mix. I am looking for proper solid techniques to place sound in Stereo field. Please don't answer with only saying EQ, Compression, Reverb, Leveling. I am looking for a set of steps to be taken to somehow be able to put a sound somewhere in stereo field in a particular direction properly.
NO HRTF, NO AMbisonics, NO damn Binaural. STEREO!
You say, "Get a good grip on mixing". Well This is my question, specifically about Stereo imaging. I hear lots of professional tracks separating elements with depth which I know it is not just the factors I've already mentioned above. There is a set of chain, probably proper use of delay or anything else. What I am looking for is a proper set of steps for putting a sound somewhere in stereo field without losing noticeable quality. I think my question and intention is clear. Let's see what you guys would offer or what sort of practice you use to achieve what is asked as a question.
With EQ, Compression, Reverb, Leveling I might be able to achieve my goal like placing sound somewhere but it is not as realistic as DearVR and I might not be able to place all sounds in that place like I placed the that very sound there( I mean I don't have a particular formula for doing so - it is just experimentation) I am looking for a solid proper step to be able to do so since every sound is different I am a bit confused about what to do to achieve such effect. But if I give ANY sound to dearVR pro, it is placed in a place I want in Stereo field ( So there should some proper steps to be taken to achieve such goal )
Give me those steps! (FOR STEREO - DearVR does that Even in STEREO compatible output format)

You can't. Stereo imaging only concerns the placement of (usually) recorded or (nowadays) artificial soundsources in the stereo field and is realised by either timing or loudness differences.

Wanting to place things behind you counts as acoustical engineering and includes those other tricks mentioned (delays in combination with phase offsets and colouration).

There is no simple formula / set of instructions or plugin chain that reaches the results an algorithm of dearVRpro or spat or qsound does. That's why people are still paying money for those tools. :winker:

I know. I've TOLD you that in a previous comment. It's NOT a daw but it's stand alone. And it works WITH A PLUGIN with your daw. As told earlier.
Now there is also spat v3 the plugin. Entirely plugin.
Very good VST PLUGIN. But sure. Don't test it and ignore it.

Maybe you want reverb, maybe you want stereoization. See these.

Have a look at these https://www.harmonycentral.com/articles/placing-instruments-in-the-stereo-soundfield-a-chart

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...rXsk7rfD-94yuL6LiwQ0QCzOYn2wlDLZhNhz6/pubhtml

But you're using DearVR which is mainly for VR production, binaural etc, DO NOT BE FOOLED. even though the output says stereo, it is still using HRTF techniques. binaural is modified stereo, after all.

I suggested this https://wavearts.com/products/plugins/panorama/ . This is the 3rd time i've discussed it here. This is also a binaural/HRTF tool.

Panorama is a specialized tool for creating stunningly realistic 3-D audio scenes using regular stereo sound. .... Panorama combines HRTF-based audio panning with acoustic environment modeling, including wall reflections, reverberation, distance modeling, and the Doppler pitch effect.

You're contradicting yourself. If you're contradicting yourself, anything goes.

I do not have time to test everything under the sun, new implmentations are coming out every month, hence my document is outdated & has limits. If you would like to test it & make a new document, go right ahead.

Not my point at all. I actually have tested it, and I actually use it it's good.
I was simply wondering why it was not in your spreadsheet. Which is appreciated, it was honestly cause I thought you hadn't heard of it. Didn't mean to offend you.
