It is not about listening, but processing, processing over processing etc etc etc again and again. And it can lead to cumulative effect, increasing digital distortion etc.
That is why mastering guys compare 24 bit adc/dac converters over other 24 bit adc/dac converters. Why to compare if it is enough of dynamic range and lowest noise? Same here.
Why people talk about aliasing, super high samplerates and 512x oversampling if intermodulation distortions are WAY worse than aliasing. Aliasing is way subtler than IMD. Aliasing is noticeable when you add +30 dB high shelf on very bright material and overdistort with hardclipping, but not with subtle distortion plugins.

Baxter, i talk about dsp quality, not binaries nor x86 nor blahblah cpu ram performance stuff. I know that x86 vst2 may have 64/80 bit dsp, and it is the myth that only vst3 may have 64 bit float. So, nothing here with x86 and x64. I knew that many years ago. We speak about old dsp engine of ultramodern overhyped plugins

I don't use Pro-Q much because all the graphical parametric EQs are the same, with different GUI mostly. I see no advantage of that over other tools.

I doubt you hear something if it leads to some distortion at -170db.
Maybe you see it with plugindoctore but you don't hear it,it's impossible.Even with limiting.

I know that you don't hear it. We speak about processing, that it can lead to cumulative effect. It is not critical, but still, why not to implement 64 bit float, instead of making plugins with x1024 oversamplings. Many plugins jumped to 64 bit float. It will not be revolutional, but still. Why not?

Just out of curiosity, how many ProQs do you have to add until the cumulative effect is hearable?

And yes it is about hearing not processing. The processing at 32 bit may cause distortion/noise, but you notice it with your ears... :winker:

If you don't hear it doesn't matter. Or do you think people listen to music with an analytical software on and say "wow do you see that noise down there in the barely hearable region"? ...

FFS... Stop complaining. Q2 is an amazing plugin, obviously Q3 is an improvement.

If u can't mix a track to a high standard with this plugin, it's your fault... Plain and simple.

No, I see people hear difference between DAWs, its summing engines vs Harrison Mixbus. Even if they perfectly null, they still hear it and call it analog summing.
Bit floats comparison even invisible, but here will be microscopic difference.
32 bit float is still great, huge dynamic range (but who knows, there are various implementations, usually it gives even 24 bit fixed; same with 64 bit float, but range is way bigger). So, for me 32 bit float is excellent, but not perfectly precise, as you may achieve with 64float and loose less. I just wonder if reaper included 64 bit float engine in 2006 or so, why Fabfilter has outdated engines? Pro-L2 released too late, in 2017, because all modern plugins already had all these new-ProL2 changes since long ago. ProQ4 will be released in 2022 with SurferEQ features? ProQ5 will be released with DSP advanced settings from Equilibrium in 2029? And ProQ6 will introduce brandnew overkilling 64 bit float, when all other plugins will be 80 bit float super extended precision.
Fabfilter are top notch, but not perfect. There are many way better alternatives. Just hype and best digital modern GUIs.
Only in 2016 i added ProQ2 in arsenal as extra companion to Equilibrium. And limiter, but since ProL2 version, and also as an extra "another" limiter, or as hard-clipper with small lookahead (less distorted hardclipping, because i don't like soft clipping due to farting lowmids and mids, hardclipping is way cleaner and transparent). So, now they introduced dynamic equalization, 2018 November. Why not in ProQ2? I will die old with my robot-powered super studio automatic musicmaker, when they will release transient deedger?
I love fabfilter for some features and comfort use, but they are not innovative or brandnew revolutionary.

I can mix and master and restore tracks to a high standard with one of my worst cheapest monitoring I still have, and you will say WOW while listening on mastering grade monitors. Especially, i can improve extremely spoiled bad recorded stuff and clean sound from almost any shit.

I love the Pro-Q 2.. Is my Go To EQ.. Excited to try the new version.. The only downside is that i have to change all the EQ in my new projects so its all with the new version.. i don`t like having 2 versions floating around.. 2019 projects will be all Pro-Q 3.. Before that i will keep the version 2 for recall purpuses..

    awesome!
dynamic EQ and being able to view the analysis of other instances are awesome features to bring this already amazing EQ to the next level.
my favorite EQ just got better!
the only thing needed now is to allow cutoff to follow MIDI pitch

cant believe its been 9 years already, it feels like 4 max :dunno:

Just rename dll and you have both versions. I have Ozone 3-8, but rarely use, and only 5 and 8. Some old projects include 5-7. Hm, maybe it is time to clean system from that)

Outdated? If you need to stack so many proQs that you notice the noise floor or it is not precise enough for your work with 32bit processing than don't use or buy it. There are so many plugins that you mentioned that are meeting your requirements. I am more than fine with the processing bit depth and I bet a lot more people are. If I weren't I would have switched my go-to EQ for a long time.

Your arguments are simply hilarious to me.

Inspired by mild pump milk, phloopy & some others I made these measurements with Nova, Equilibrium, Oxford (2007!) and Satin, FYI.

Sine, 990Hz @ 44,1kHz, the spikes are aliasing.

I suggest you download the pics to scroll through them so you see the differences best (ignore the 'Statistics', I didn't reset them every time).
