Hi, I'm not sure if this is against the rules or anything but I couldn't find a post detailing them.

There used to be a reddit that posted original leaked scores from major cinematic soundtracks from the likes of John Williams, Hans Zimmer, John Powell, etc. I nabbed a few from there, but looking again for more to study the orchestration of greats like John Williams, it seems that subreddit is gone now.

I'm talking about sheet music, not audio files to be clear.

I've snooped around and found a few scores here and there on the sister site and other torrent sites, but nothing major like the original pencil wrote score of The Asteroid Field from Empire Strikes Back, and the actual HTTYD complete score that seemed readily available on the above mentioned subreddit.

So, is there a place anyone knows of where you can find such articles? I've seen on forums and comment sections that a lot of these scores have been leaked, and I would like to get my hands on them if possible for education purposes.
    Thanks.

As a reminder, it is not allowed to post links to warez sites, so I guess that most of the answers you could receive will have to be through Private message.

If you don't want your music sucks like theirs, please don't study them. Please...

Score reading and analyzing is the most noncreative thing you can imagine. It closes the windows of your mind and kills your freshness.

You can find out this from the music of educated guys from the formal music institutions.

Most of these guys you mentioned were directly copying older music (changing some of the rhythms/time signature or the melody), including older film music, not only classical, so you want to study the copy of a copy... The story about Star Wars and "The Planets" by Holst is very funny - apparently, Lucas thought that original suite had something to do with space - it was actually based on the composer's astrology hobby. Some of the famous film guys were actually sued by the estates of older composers (Holst estate sued Williams and Zimmer, probably some others, some years ago). I never could understand why John Adams didn't bother with lawsuit the guys from the Matrix movies.

Again, this is undoubtedly one of the biggest bullshit I ever heard. As if all music were based on innovation. It's as if everything people want to were restricted to innovation. People develop connections with instruments, rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic schemes. Further on, people relate groupings of musical objects (and their patterns, in the condition of styles and genres) with momentary or past experiences in their lives (see the case of patients with Alzheimer's disease).

"Music freedom instead of Music theory", this kind of relativism arising from biased reasoning ensures that any kind of music must be equally (cognitively and affectively) appreciated and consumed - note that I use 'must' to highlight a stronger, more intense obligation to emphasize an order or desire that may be more associated with a desire of the composer than the audience itself - just like a postmodern/experimental chef would presumably create bold new original dishes incorporating ingredients such as coal dust, styrofoam, and plutonium. Not many humans eat inhuman food as not many humans appreciate inaccessible music (inventive, but sometimes accessible only to a minority within the minority, in this case, specialized musical audiences).

Film scoring compositionally is almost different than classical ones because it must fit into that medium and also considering the restriction in freedom.

The Hollywood Classical Scoring is not the prominent styles anymore. The golden age of scoring based on the romanticism and modernism ended in 1960s with the entrance of song-like POP, ROCK and other indigenous formats in other countries which seems regression than positive development. The genius score makers resigned and song makers took up their seats.

Thanks for the replies guys. I recently found what I was looking for, there's a website called swappano wherein you can exchange scores with other users. I also noticed the /r/CinemaScores reddit is up but it's private and I couldn't secure an invite for whatever reason.

    Cheers.
