Hi, I am new to this. But, why are sound libraries so hard to crack especially east west. Other programs like cubase, reason, omnisphere are widely available.

 

Well, if you want to get technical....
The programs you mentioned may have been cracked in the past, but the latest versions of cubase and reason wont be cracked.
The dongles are just too time consuming to crack, and IF there are people out there who have the skills to actually do it, then they DEFINITELY have a lot better things to do than spending 5000 to 10000 hours cracking a dongle.

Would you spend the time if you had the skills?
Of course not, you'd be off making money with that skillset right?

 

Why don't more companies use dongle. I look at programs like sony vegas, photoshop, finale notepad etc, their newest edition get cracked every year. Why don't they make their programs like sound libraries.

 

Because such protection is
A) Annoying and inconvenient to the user and
B) Expensive

 

Nick Phoenix's biggest enemy of his life is AiR.

for what concerns me, in most cases i would have never ever knew the existence of about 80% of audio software out there if it wasn't available cracked. (i have ended up by buying some of them after using cracked version)

but for example, paying about $329 for a compressor (ie: Softube CL 1B VST native) that i will use a few times here and there, is just fucking nuts! I prefer to spend that on cigs, whisky, weed and even a hooker!

now that reson6 and others moved to ilok2, then fuck them. i will not even try to check what their software does do. Let them keep it for themselves and to a limited group of users..

 

Truth is, we have so much software and sample banks available already that bothering with dongled software is just not worth it. I just don't use it either legally or illegally. I don't even want to know about the software that uses dongles for protection. I think that's too much to bother with.

On the other hand, I would buy a plugin or a sample bank I really like and that doesn't use any draconian protections that would make using it more of a chore than pleasure. I also have personal bad experiences with such protections. It's just not worth it. And moreover, the software that uses such protections is usually overpriced for what you get. My attitude towards them is just let them rot, and ignore them as if they don't exist at all. ;) Interesting, most of the software that I consider high quality and use daily is actually freeware. Freeware that didn't exist at all only a few years ago. So my usage of paid for plugins have drastically went down last few years.
