Anyone know a way to download videos from Sonic Academy with only a subscription?

It looks like they are protected m3u8 - mp2t chunk files hosted on vzaar. I have tried alot of stuff already and found a solution, but it doesn't download them in the original quality.

 

Try these (or a combination of them):
-- Download Helper (Chrome Extension). You must play the video and then you may download it from the extension (or get a link).
-- VSO Downloader
-- JDownloader 2

 

From my experience Chrome doesn’t allow to download any videos. What works in FireFox it doesn’t in Chrome, eg. Downloadhelper. As for this plugin it works only in FFox but with the trick. You have to change in Settings of DHelper the deafault download into mp3. Then download mp3 from SAcademy. Then change again the default download of DHelper into video. Refresh SAcademy page and download video. You will have two the same files but with different extension, eg. mp3 and mp4. Or try KeepVid pro. Very good app. I use v6. Or save SAcademy page to HDD as html. In the catalog you will find a file with number of a source video. Edit the file and find a full address of a video. The number of a source video you may find by inspecting SAcademy page. This last trick helped to download embedded video from Vimeo.

 

I found another solution that seems like it will work amazingly, but thanks for the replies I will try it out if it doesn't work.

I dont know if developers and stuff browse these forums to try and shut stuff down, so I am just being cautious but the short of it is to use a program called "Tube Digger"

I purchased it though, as the cracked copies floating around are old and constantly crash.

I already shared the solution in my last post above, and to Agent007 I wasn't concerned about linking to a legit app, I was worried about Sonic Academy finding out and they updating their code to block using it (they use 128bit AES HLS streams,) and this program was the only thing I found after trying things all day, so ya...stop being a conspiracy theorist lol.

No one gave me a solution that worked, I had to figure it out on my own and then I am sharing it, so I am confused as to what you mean.

Was only saying to not bother with cracked copies so people don't have to waste time like I did.

I asked how to do it because I honestly didn't know, so I asked if anyone did. I received some replies with things to try and none worked. I went to videohelp.com and asked people there.

I was sent a PM by a user on videohelp.com to try a program called Tube Digger. I got the program and it worked, I was able to download Sonic Academy videos with only a subscription.

And before I got a response on videohelp.com, I tried ffmpeg, youtube-dl, every browser extension that supposedly worked, various PC applications, decrypting m3u8, and recommendations from replies here and other forums.

The videos are protected by 128bit AES HLS encryption and hosted through vzarr.com, which specializes in protecting content.

The only thing that really worked was Replay Media Catcher (which I used a cracked copy of) which records a browser window, but the quality wasn't perfect, which won't help people who are trying to mix and master with the courses. Tube Digger allows you to download the 1920 x 1080, original source file, so the quality is perfect.

I then responded here that thanks for your help, but I found the solution. I didn't even say how or what I did initially. People started asking me how, but I didn't want to broadcast it publicly, so I sent PM to users who asked.

The reason I was PM'ing people is because of how difficult it was to find a solution. If Sonic Academy monitors these forums and see that there is a program that circumvents their protection, then they can get it too and patch their code to block it, which won't help me share courses with people.

Just yesterday I posted their newest course on the sister site, Tech Trance in Studio One 4, and plan on sharing anything that is missing on audioz

After I was getting negative responses for not sharing it publicly (by one user, who isn't even a month old on here), I posted the name of the software i used.

I initially tried to find a cracked copy, but none of them worked. I bought it personally. I said to people to not bother trying to get a cracked copy, because I already tried all the ones I could find and they all crashed immediately and in my mind, if I couldn't find it, most people wouldn't either.

So it isn't like I pretended to ask for help to just promote a piece of software. Why would I want to promote my software on a board full of pirates and crackers?

Just to summarize, I asked for help, got it, didn't work, found solution, shared it. I did nothing wrong, imo.

The user Agent007 has warped my conversation into a conspiracy, but if you take the time to read my comments (which agent007 obviously didn't) you will see that I am speaking accurately.

I feel like if I had just said I used a cracked version, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

I never expected such a backlash just because I was able to find the solution on my own.

Thank you for explaining it for all of us. Sometimes it is not what you say but how you say it. Since the few weeks I have been here I have noticed some craazy shit that has nothing to do with music. People selling skin cream, penis enlargement. So when I started to read your thread I thought it was another one of those. I apologize if I offended you in any manner.
