Hello,
I would like to get ASIO Link Pro and I am not sure how I should proceed. From what I can see, the developer passed away a while ago, and the authentication servers are down, so it's neither possible to buy it nor to authenticate it if you legit own it.

While I am interested in "the scene" and its stories and releases etc., I like to avoid actually installing and using releases as far as I can, and I'd like to stay as legit as I can. But in this case, I'll have to bite the bullet, because there doesn't seem to be another program which can do what ASIO Link does.

So, there's a release on the "sister site" from a group (two letters with one symbol in between). It's a "just install" release. Thing is, it was released in June 2016, and in the same month, there have been a few other releases by that same group where the commenters claim that the releases make edits to the Firewall and act suspicious in other ways.

There is one other release, a few patches by someone who looks like a freelance guy who's doing other stuff on his portal like benchmarks etc., and he is usually not doing piracy related stuff at all, but in this case he simply wanted to have this particular program available after the programmer passed away. That patch is not on the "sister site". He posts on Reddit and has a few YouTube tutorials up. But it looks like the earlier version of his patcher didn't work properly, and there aren't tutorials for his current patch.

I don't know what to do. Which one of these is more trustworthy? Does anyone use ASIO Link Pro and has experience with either release, and can give me a recommendation on how to proceed?

I want to use this program in Windows 7 to listen to Windows audio (like YouTube videos, tutorials etc.) while working on a DAW which uses ASIO.

i bought this program few years back and love it. But i discover that the developer passed away too. I tried to install ASIO link PRO on a new fresh pc but this didnt worked out well. I couldnt connect to the server of the developer to register again. After that i did search on internet and found the guy you are telling about "Give Academy", he cracked this program to honor the developer and let the program live on. Now i run this version he patched and have no problems at all. Even family of the developer thanks "Give Academy".....

Thank you for the information. I had seen that video before (didn't actually watch all of it but took a look at it). I am just not sure whether I should trust that guy because he doesn't have too much other stuff on his site. It just seemed like he wanted to capitalize on this in some way. About the sister site version, in the comments people write it doesn't install stereo pairs, only 7.1 channels or something. And then there's the other releases during the same time in which people clain that the installers modify firewalls and so on.

But it's good to hear someone has been running the give academy version without problems.

I had seen the ploytec drivers and was interested in them, but I don't have an external USB audio device, so it wouldn't make sense for me.

It has to modify firewall, otherwise the audio network drivers wouldn´t work

 

I used both versions, but I seem to remember some issue with the original I had, and that the Give Academy did not have. (Can't remember and maybe it was just a USER issue- haha)
I am using Give Academy right now & the only problem I have is that i need to use the "Request an ASIO driver reset from the host application" button pretty often if i have switched around using different programs and then load my Daw or etc. It never has a problem while running.
My reset problem MIGHT be due to my ASIO driver which is PreSonus OR hardware which is an AudioBox USB.
I don't know, but it would be nice to figure that out.

Just go to give academy even if your browser say it's not safe to go just make a temp rule in your browser and go before it is to late man....I am customer of odeus asio link(bought it 2014 and was doomed after activation server was down) and believe me there is no alternative beside some expensive gear like AVB interfaces but you need two of them for an ip workflow... and this is a win win situation for every one... if you are on windows it's a must have!!!

PS:the version from give academy is the last update that I got from odeus, ther some more options like installing the 16 stereo ports(WASAPI)or a 32bit option, the second network row(16 More than the VR Release) and send in to out directly in asio tool if you use it as a summing mixer and you can save unlimited configuration profiles as a file with name instead of just 9 profiles with numbers...i have several sound cards from RME to a Motu and some smaller sound cards and I can say with non of them drivers(even RME)come close to this fine piece of soft engineering...if you have a good driver asio link will make it better, it's an extension for all of my sound cards...peace out.

Well it is a simple 2-input model and i like it fine, EXCEPT: It was the original old model (in white) that could not accept a humbucker guitar pickup signal well (it would overload even at lowest setting).
I used a couple of boxes that tamed the guitar signal, but I now just send signal into it via my mixer anyway.

I debated a little about which to install, ASIO Link Pro or VoiceMeeter.
I liked the look of VoiceMeeter, but I have not been doing very much of mixing other programs into the ASIO system yet, and once ASIO Pro is running there hasn't been much need to even look at it, once I had a couple of presets set up. I have used it mostly to run my DAW computer from another machine using Teamviewer, and occasionally for recording off movies (soundtrack music and interesting bits.)
If i was doing gaming or podcasting or making demo videos ...I have a feeling I would be using VoiceMeeter with the nice interface. Looking again, I think I will install it now

 

I think I did try that at one point just to see the results. That was when I also changed settings to make sure my DAW would continue running ASIO when I switched between programs, but I will check it out again. Not sure it has to do with the problem, but it can't hurt to check.

I have used it for years for remote control. Easy setup, and it even will WakeOnLAN my other computers.
It is easy to set up...not sure there is much to elaborate regarding DAW-specific ...
I could not see how to make TeamViewer pass ASIO, so I got ASIO Link Pro to do that part!
Of course I can not control any hardware connected to my DAW computer with it (can't press the keys on my controller, etc).
Working from an older computer but with a good size monitor, I can forget I am using Teamviewer, except when I "CTRL-ALT-DEL"
and it brings up the task manager on the computer i'm actually on- hahah (There is a button on Teamviewer bar to send that particular key combo, to make sure they stay active on the computer you are sitting at.)

I am trying to use this in Maschine so I can "sample what I hear" when I play files in VLC Player...but i can't seem to do it (my audio interface doesn't have loopback)....

Has anybody done this or have an idea how it's done ???

 

Yes, i do this all the time. In VLC, make sure to check the output is going to "ASIOVADPRO Driver".
VLC output to "Default" will work so long as ASIOVADPRO is set as default device already.
