i dont a have a favorite right now (and i dont want to leave any plugin behind so i use everything
    but usually i do
1- simple drum kick and snare with stylus
2- add a midi and apply one of the Arturia plugins on and play for a while until i get that sound
3 - i would pick random plugins like sylenth or one of U-He plugins for bass /pads/keys
and reprogramming everything else from there
4- if i need better sound i would open omnisphere or any kontakt library and go deep
5-i ll write the plugins down on a paper so i will not use them on the next project
in that way i ll give other plugins to shine on the field
(just like what pep guardiola done in Barcelona )

If I sit down to program any original synth sound (usually some kind of sound fx), it will be something modular like Karmafx, Vaz modular, Tassman, Mux, maybe Zebra or Fl's Patcher, or RP Blue2.
I see that most synths and preset banks come processed with fx factory presets (and don't need too much mixing), so if I need some cliche trance sound or dubstep etc, it will be Serum or Avenger.

  7. Vember Audio Surge, ah-ha-he-he-ho-ho Zebra/Repro or Spectrosonics Omnisphere are the usual culprits, scrutinizing me to no end if I catch my reflection in that...giant rectangular eye, in that mustard colored room where my pretty guitars lay weeping. Please, I beg of you, make them all stop!

Spire is my favorite. There are others that are arguably more powerful, etc. But spire is capable of a LOT and always sounds fat/musical. Fast to program and versatile. Excellent synth--and better with each (fairly regular) update! Inexpensive too.

Others I enjoy greatly: Spectral, Serum, Lush-101, Factory, Diversion, Dune, Hive, Sylenth, Zebra. And I'm sure several others I can't think of at the moment.

Has anyone used Omnisphere with the new Hardwear mapping feature, I think that looks quite interesting as I have a minilogue, I think that level of intergration would be cool, this is a good video on it

My most used VST synths are The Legend, Diva, Repro-1/5, Alchemy, TAL-Sampler, Matrix-12V, DX-7V, Mono/Poly, M1, Wavestation, LusH-101, Bazille, and Spire. In order of preference. I try not to complicate things with a zillion of different soft synths.

i'm thinking of creating a macro to respond to these threads as there are new ones on the same question almost daily.
i wonder if it really helps getting peeps to list their favorite synths.
at the moment i am (still using a lot):
    Surge
Reaktor 6 ( loads of synths)
    z3ta
and my secret weapon ( not so much a secret now : )
Linplug spectral. ( it's not so special on it's own but it really lights up in a mix)..
loads of others ... but those at the moment : ]
