I want to compose by using a notation software, and even though I wanted to go with Dorico, because of several reasons I decided to go with Sibelius.

There are so many VST audio packages available, specially on the sister site.
And most of them work with DAWs.

I don't want to use any kind of DAW. I want to focus on composing, so any kind of decent sound output is enough for me. The default audio for Sibelius sounds horrible.

So what VST packages would you recommend, which can be used for Sibelius and offers complete packages for Classical or Jazz instruments?

So far I decided to try out Miroslav Philharmonik 2 and Vienna Symphonic Library Complete Kontakt one.

I am not sure if I can do better than that, so I am asking for tips and suggestions.
A lot of them have packages only for single instruments. Is it possible to use to different libraries for different instruments in a single music sheet? Let's say violin audio from x and Violas from y in the same piece?

    Thank you.

Forget about "Vienna Symphonic Library Complete Kontakt one". It is awful in terms of scripting, and articulations. Unless you buy the original version

To focus on composing "Miroslav Philharmonik 2 CE" is a good library. Only 5GB, and you can load all of it into RAM.

There is another one called "Garritan 5", but it does not sound so much good. However, it has some options for scoring.

If you want a huge library, I think
"Steinberg Iconica Sections and Players" is a good option.

I am not sure about Sibelius, but I guess you can load whatever you want.

Okay, good to know about the Vienna one.
I'll see if I can find Garritan 5 and Steinberg Iconica.
    Couldn't find Noteperformer though.

    You're welcome!
By the way a side question, how do you compose in Sibelius? Just by inserting notes, or recording MIDI? if by inserting notes, I want to know your workflow, because I never could compose music by programming or writing it! I need to playing or otherwise, my music will become very simple. Do you have any tips?

You can use a midi keyboard to record stuff, there are tutorials how to do that.
Also you can use the keypad, which lets you type in your notes very fast, if you have a numpad.
Other than that you need to know music theory to be able to compose stuff. Anyone can press some buttons on their DAW environment, put it in a loop and voila you have your music. Of course you can give those stuff thousands of different effects and so on, but that is basically the reason why DAWs are popular. Because you don't need to know music theory, most of them don't know.
    My tip would be:

It is a 6 videos series which explains a lot of things.
I have a different background, which doesn't use the western notation for music, so this stuff is also new to me kind of.

I know music theory and yes we can write harmony, but what about rhythm?
Writing the rhythm of melody notes by inserting those is not appealing! Because you can't convey your emotion in music by inserting those!, Jus how you know how it sounds before playing that? Just writing random consonance and dissonance notes and hope for the good result?
However, I know planning before playing can expand our creativity to not play the same ideas every time! I mean that written music can be a basis for a more complex composition.
Thanks for the video series. I will check them up!

I just wanted to say that Steinberg and its buggy elicensing system is the worst thing.
Trying to make it work for several hours now. I m gonna delete those 145gb, useless stuff.

    Any other recommendations?

That is very straight forward! What is your problem? We can help you. The samples are great! They are recorded with the help of OrhcestralTools

    Thanks.
Well from what I understand for the Steinberg Iconica series I need their player Halion 6 or Halion Sonic 3 or SE.

None worked with the elicenser tool. It keeps telling me that I need to choose a license or try again.

Did you follow the Sunny steps?
1.In your system must be installed eLicenser Control Center
    2. To operate this library for more than 30 days, you need eLicenser Antitrial beta-5 and eLicenser Antitrial Switch. Who does not have them, you can download Here
    3. Next, you need to request a trial version of Iconica Sections & Players. To do this, you will need a mailbox, which will eventually receive an activation code for 30 days, which will need to be copied and added to the eLicenser Control Center.
    4. Install eLicenser Antitrial beta-5. The eLicenser Antitrial Switch utility allows you to enable and disable the antitrial.
    5. Star HALion and specify one file from each category of tools

Grab the latest cr.ack from here:

For classical I would go with Albion One which sounds superior to Miroslav in my opinion.

As for jazz, I would consider Pianoteq, Modo Bass and finally the Roots library of Superior Drummer.

As odod said, definitely checkout NotePerformer. It can sound amazing, and is fully integrated with Sibelius, and now Finale and Dorico (but it started with Sibelius). It will perform what you put into notation, including dynamics and musical phrasing, and it sounds very good. It may not be what you want for a final rendering, but for composing it's probably the easiest and fastest way to write and hear your music without endless tweaking getting in the way of composition creativity. It's only $129 for a pretty full orchestra.
