Hi, i heard a lot of Vocaloid and would like to test it out.

A found this video here, someone told me that is Vocaloid. That was so awesome that i thought..okay i have to find out
how this software works.

This is what i have

A Producer Software (Sonar)
- Vocaloid 3
- Vocaloid Libary.

Okay, if i open the editor i can click on the tones but thats all.

Have i forgotten to install a Software? I don't know where to write some text in it.
So you can see i'm a totally noobie in this sector and hope someone could tell me how to start.

I would be really glad if i could get my first tones out of it.

Hate to break it to you but I am pretty damn sure that the vocal in that song is not Vocaloid.

The technology of vocaloid just isn't there yet to create vocal as realistic as that.

As for how to use the Vocaloid software; it is a standalone program and not a plugin that you can use inside a sequencer like Sonar.

Inside the Vocaloid environment, you would draw out notes using the pencil tool then assign lyrics to each note.

A quick search of "Vocaloid tutorial" on youtube should get you started.


Also note that most Vocaloids are Japanese while only a few can speak English.

While you can still try to create English sentences using a Japanese Vocaloid, the process is often painful and the result not as pleasing.

 

i'am not sure that this is vocaloid, more probably not, or just highly postprocessed, none of english vocaloids have such tone and accent

Okay, thank you. I didn't know that but seems really to be a sounfont because as you showed in your example there are much songs
which use this.

I used your hint and drawed some lines and would let here sing

"Hello Ma Baby"
> Hello ma bay bi"

Truth be told, it just doesn't work with English lyrics (yet). You could use it for some background or fx stuff (like Mike Oldfield did), though.
It does work much better in Japanese (because of the simple phonotactics I believe) and could be a reason for the popularity there.

it works with English lyrics with some vocs, but quality isn't good enough, the best i heard was Avanna vocal
also i heard some nice examples with Sweet Ann ("God is a girl"-song and some others)
+ don't forget about post processing-work (vst-plugins for vocal)

 

The best post in this thread according to my little experience. You can achieve nice results but in the first place it's hard and the quality isn't enough good. Also you need post-FX to clean some artifacts that reminds me frequency aliasing ones.
