I will ask if i need a lesson, and the conversation and my posts in this thread are about drum machines which are actual pieces of hardware not Vstis. As for comparisons, let's see, what sounds identical to a MiniMoog:

 

A very close imitation. The Monarch to my ears and how it makes me feel to listen to hasn't the same body the low end doesn't feel quite as impactful. The LFO too of the NI I remember as not being quite as happening, but they are quite similar. I got the Legend when it first came out by Synapse Audio and it too has it's shortcomings when compared to it's hardware counterpart, but its all Rock n' roll now isn't it. I bought it on the power of this comparison video.

But we digress, these are full blown synths and not vintage drum machines

@moby clay fill is or was a common technique for bulk filling of wooden beam ceilings/floors, maybe that's what he's refering to?

 

As exciting as it is to imagine buying any of these I seriously hope it doesn't mean Moby is going to be using NI Battery, or worse not making more music??

edit: I use Battery a lot, but i'm not Moby..

Moby's MTV Cribs episode years ago is the only one I remember because every episode was someone's extravagant setup but he was super humble and showed his library of books, and I don't think he had a TV either.

 

Battery 4 is one of the best things Native Instruments have made IMO, easy to use and great for creative process just drag the samples in etc and away you go!!
The key is to keep it basic, its about the MIDI programming, no processing on these sound bites just MIDI files dragged into your track
