I like to ask you folks if someone knows if it is allowed to use
parts of speeches from people cut from TV !

    Not from movies or series.
I mean only what people talk, announce or comment publicly.

Could be anything what they say...

How much could I use ?
Do I have to ask for permission ?
How much would it cost, if it does ?

THX for any answers that would help.

Don't even worry about it unless your gonna chart. Dance music is full of uncleared samples, I have never worried even though i once did get a letter from a solicitor telling me not to use a specific name anymore. I just thought fuck em, carry on regardless.

    It's from 1964 and a reading from a TV show !

SO you think it might be clear to use it ?

I read that people who use the Martin Luther King jr. speech. I have a dream,
have to pay the MLK foundation some percentage.
That is public and old, so how can they charge someone ??? :dunno:

By the way..., thanks for the help !
    cheers

Martin Luther King died in 1968. Current US copyright laws allow works to go into the public domain after 70 years. So they still own that work/speech.

I don't have too much info on TV intellectual property , but I am in the music licensing business so i can tell you that each country has it's own public domain laws so the number of years varies. Not sure where the tv show you are talking about was created.
