1.4.0 version seems to work okay here. I have not used it much, just tried a couple of patches with no crash

I deleted the config file and template file in Ableton, then reinstalled Omnisphere update and patched it again. This time I did not need to use challenge code, and I think that was the problem first time around. So if you have to use challenge code after patching Omnisphere do the update one more time.

I prefer not update until 2 or 3 months... the latest microsoft updates are plenty of bugs, specially for audio production. thanks.

So far I'm liking the snappiness of the update. Like others here, Spectrasonics, IK Multimedia, and XLN needed to be re-registered. Dark mode is cool, especially for late night studio work. I havent' tried to install Sylenth1, but I'll get around to it soon.

One question for anyone with this sort of experience. You know that /Windows.old folder that appears in the C: after certain updates like this? Is it of any importance moving forward? Can I remove it without boot issues or other potential havoc? I really hate the clutter - seeing it bothers me.

EDIT: Nevermind folks. I found my answer here ---> https://www.howtogeek.com/223821/what-is-the-windows.old-folder-and-how-do-you-delete-it/

I guess I'll leave it there for the month just in case, hopefully it will automatically delete itself in 30 days like it seems its supposed to do. I'd prefer not to delete it manually.

Yeah was going to leave mine for a while after the Creator's update (i think).
I didn't want it included in backups though, so I made an exclusion.
Then i thought "Why do I need it, considering I have a full backup from right before the update?"
    Deleted :D
I do backups after every few little installs or before any major change.
SO nice to be able to just restore (20 minutes max) what I had EXACTLY as it was.

So, I have 17 backups since June, when i began with a fresh install using the Creator's update image.
Still have my old setup on another drive, and it works fine, but too many major updates to DAW progs had occured, and too much testing and experimenting I'd done on that when i decided to do the major updates.
So, this is fresh with mostly just the newer VSTs.
I see my backups are now up to 35Gig using normal compression with Todo backup. (C drive reports 83 Gig).
I made a few mistakes along the way that prompted me to just restore.
Nice to have those small backups with just my basic stuff to start from, too.
I am now "loaded for bear"!

Amid reports of users facing a number of issues after updating their computers to Windows 10 October 2018 Update, Microsoft said Saturday it was pausing the rollout of the latest version of its Windows 10 desktop operating system
1809 is no longer available for download :guru:

In a support document updated today, October 6, the Redmond-based OS maker said it took this decision after users complained that v1809 had deleted files after the update.

    http://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-pulls-windows-10-october-update-version-1809/
Hope noone of you guys suddenly looked into an empty documents folder :woot::crazy:

I'm still on Enterprise 1607 ltsb btw and had no issues with DAWs/VSTs (or deleted files) so far.

all my files are intakt looks like it affected a few users, i got 1803 full backup just in case, but no issues here, seems strange that it only affected a few users, and why did they release it if bugs were known, usually it updates fine, but as i said so far im ok with the update, i guess we will see a culamative update in the next days or so.

One user quoted in the the zdnet article had 220 GB of his data deleted. :wtf:
Seems only very few users had their files deleted, but those few are still.. umm.. too much.:knock:

Some users also experienced missing apps and further stuffs :dunno:

"...several files and programs were missing. I grabbed a cold beer in anticipation of the rage to follow. Programs like Spotify and Discord were gone (no big deal, redownloaded) but I also found that all of my Rainmeter skins and files were COMPLETELY gone, along with EVERYTHING FROM PICTURES AND DOCUMENTS."

Ha! Great news! Now when people have problems, I (or about 10-20 other members) won't have to inform them of the windows 10 issues.

I just go into Services, and set Windows Update to "disabled".
That has seemed to always work for me without having to install some other thing.
    Isn't that right?
AND for this "Donotspy10", what i see on MajorGeeks is :
"Watch out during the install for one third party program it offers to install."

Thank you very much, googling the question just offered me software hence the seemingly dim post.
