Been making this one for someone as a backing track. Still it's a work in progress.

Still need a true physical guitar riffs and powerchords as sampled libraries don't sound that good. But I'll hopefully get them soon.
    All suggestions are welcome.

There are plenty of good guitar libraries out there. Shreddage 2 or V-Metal would sound better than the actual album guitars any day if combined with a decent amp sim [Guitar Rig 5, Revolver, Amplitude Metal, etc] , not to mention Within Temptation or really any European Symphonic Metal band is relatively straight forward. Basically power chords and a few palm mutes. In all honesty finishing the track should only take 10 minutes or so unless your planning on writing out a solo or something.

Other than that it sounds pretty decent. The drums sound good even though I don't know how well they will sound after the guitar and proper bass are added mostly because they sound electronic. But I'm not sure if thats the sound your going for or trying to emulate a real band/symphony to emulate within temptation style.

But yeah, I suggest looking into Shreddage 2 and Guitar Rig 5 and you could a lot of work of recording a real guitar or getting someone to play what you want accurately enough to be considered recordable [since I have no idea who you know or what their skill level on guitar is].

If you need quick help on knocking out a decent sounding guitar track hit me up. Take me half an hour or something. And it'll sound like the guitar on this track http://dl.dropbox.com/u/89232694/2013/A%20Thousand%20Little%20Lies.mp3 . If not it's cool, just thought I'd offer some quick help since your thinking of going down an unnecessarily harder road for who knows type of results.

Sampled libraries can do the job in my opinion but they lack the lazy legato of switching chords, I haven't heard the original WT track so I don't know how the guitar is played but being a ballad I am sure the track can benefit from the above mentioned articulation. Shreddage 2 is good indeed, Electri6ity is cool as well.

Very rare to see someone discuss Rock/Metal type production here on the Sex, I wish there was more such discussion.

I just heard the track, being the B-side of my favorite WT album Silent Force, the guitars are so simple, even Musiclab RealLPC will do the job. Just powerchords and some palm mutes before the last chorus.

Also, compress the snare more, bring out High frequencies and put a reverb on it to make the sound more grand, otherwise your backing track sounds awesome!

The piano part is great.. if you manage the other instruments + vocals to fit with piano this could be a real good cover!

Right now i think the sound of the drums doens't fit with the piano sound.

I'm interested in how it goes on.

    Greets,
    Jack
