The main engine for this software is on their servers so you have to be logged in to an account to use it. It's not a standalone plugin so the only option is to buy it.

peterA is right. Even if you own the plug-in, every time you start it, your computer needs to be online so that your account data can be checked. It's a bit of a nuisance, really.

    It's even more limited:
On Mac, we support Ableton Live, Apple Logic and FL Studio.

On Windows, we support Ableton Live and FL Studio.

Studio One and Cubase are not supported yet.

Captain Melody is a Mac-only plugin

So if you are a Windows user you are limited to Ableton and FL Studio plus you don't get the melody plugin. Sounds like a real bargain but I guess if you need a computer to write your songs then you will put up with anything.

Better to learn some basic music theory and write your own music, much more satisfying.

  7. I am a skeptic of plugins being limited to what they officially support. There are so many hosts, combinations, meta-host-plugins that I can't really fault them for only claiming compatibility with what they have tested. It's the safe option. And as they say, with 30-day money-back guarantee, if it doesn't jive with your setup you just cancel.

Personally, I am not taken with always-networked software. It's intrusive, and causes performance issues. But I can understand why samplers with built-in library browsing, or stuff using outboard AI go that route. The upside is that it makes it a lot easier for them to add features, new chords, etc without updating the plug. But I am too retro - MANY of my fave plugs are by companies that no longer exist, so it's important for me to still be able to use them years later.

  8. Yes, this.

… You load sixteen tons, what do you get
Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store…

Hello ... thanks for the advice, but I really need a plugins that works with cubase or in a standalone way that helps me in the chord progressions. A great help is provided by the chord track of cubase pro 9 (editor and chord assistant) where you put simple X you can put all the agreements you want and you also have a prompter. I tried "Improvisator" Cochleor but it's really complicated .... it's a crazy program because it's really hard to understand the chords. It takes a half-hour to figure out which of those options is a simple chord type Cm6. Please see attached. I'm looking for something like this ..... can you help me? Do you know some alternative vst or plugins? Thank you

Oh I didn't see that Studio One isn't supprted. I thought that any DAW with VST support could use this. Thanks for that info. I was going to save up to get this.

If you're familiar with "Improvisator" you definitely must try ''scaler''

Not supported is not the same as will not work, it just means you won't get technical support if you run into problems. I read some comments that Studio One owners have it working so maybe it does and you are backed by a 30 day money back guarantee so you could always try it yourself and see.

You should make that demand on the sister site. You can ask here for advices on how to get things working, but requests or links to warez aren't allowed here. Thank you.

The WIN Scaler link **is** working.

Type "scaler" into the search box -- first WIN result works. v1.5 x86 x64

Remember that Captain Chords is just a vst version of Odesi. Odesi has all the modules - chord, melody, bass, drums - it just works as a standalone programme. You use the built in sounds to create your track, export as midi and then import to your DAW and change the actual sounds to taste.
