There is just something about Q2. The feeling you get when you use it. The design is just spectacular!

Is it any better than equalise 2? I have no idea, but I'll carry on using it!

Try apqualizr2 latest version. Good antiharsh for midhighs and highs. Very strong.
Acon equalize is excellent as Pro q2.
For more dsp option and cleanest possible sound equilibrium is a winner

Plus it has different eq shapes and options for IIR and FIR, which can make the difference.

They are not graphic EQs. ;)
Edit: Oh, you mean "graphic rich".

ApQualizr2 FTW! Ok, Pro-Q2 is also amazing.

Gotta side with the ProQ-2 guys on this one. FabFilter has some great plugs, whether or not you dig the crazy GUI design. Personally, I'd rather a plugin looked like a plugin, and not resemble a piece of analog gear from the Seventies that everyone will bitch about "not even sounding close" to the real thing.

I hope you're not talking about Acustica Audio. I won't hear a word against them. Not with the staggering amount of my money they have.

+1 for DMG's stuff, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

Never tried Acustica's stuff (I had to look them up just now to make sure). They seem to have analog-y interfaces, but not anything specific. And I don't mean that stuff with analog gear-style interfaces is bad, because I use a lot of actual analog-emulating plugs (Waves, some Plugin Alliance stuff, Softube, BBE, IK Multimedia, about a jillion VI emulations, etc.). But I think plug manufacturers, like everything else associated with audio production, are eventually going to have to move forward if they want to make better plugs. I never understood that. When CD first came out, everybody immediately ditched vinyl and cassette. Now, CDs are almost obsolete and vinyl is king. When Pro Tools first came out, everybody ditched analog tape. The tape manufacturers were actually going out of business a few years back. Now, all the top sound engineers claim digital is garbage and swear by analog tape and outboard hardware processors from the Sixties and Seventies. Instead of pushing Avid or other DAW manufacturers to come up with more and better innovations, they're forcing all these companies to make shit that looks and sounds like old hardware.

Acon's EQ is nice, but if I'm using an EQ with a graphics display, I go with ProQ2.

I'd say EQs mentioned in this thread are tailored towards "surgical" workflow ...alas they're so versatile to use them all the time heh

on the other hand, for sound coloring/saturation/vibe or whatever, emulation of hardware gear is welcome of course, but that's a different thingy ;)

I know, that's why I mentioned liking ProQ's GUI. I notice a few companies are doing that with their GUIs these days (Izotope, especially), and to me, it helps get out of the mindset of "it's supposed to sound like [insert old hardware name here] ...!"

Apqualizr is interesting with its lfos and envelopes,it could be the bread and butter if Pro-q has these features!
